Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death in the United States, and improved CVD risk assessment is needed for personalized medicine. Atherosclerosis measures including plaque volume and adverse plaque features have prognostic value. Novel techniques have been developed for assessing carotid, coronary, and femoral atherosclerosis using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods that are rapid and reproducible, have improved spatial resolution, and do not require contrast media, making atherosclerosis assessment in multiple vascular beds feasible during a single MRI session. This pilot research will provide preliminary data to develop an innovative global atherosclerosis measure including carotid, coronary, and femoral vascular beds, for assessing cardiovascular risk and for monitoring atherosclerosis response to therapy. 20 participants will be recruited in one year. Stroke survivors frequently show persistent gait deficits in their chronic stages even after years of intensive rehabilitation. This may be caused by diminished capability of re-acquiring motor skills post stroke. Thus, the overall purpose of this research project is to examine stroke survivors' capability of learning a novel leg task over 3 visits, 1-2 weeks apart. The capability of learning a new skill is then correlated with the individual's neurological functions (nerve activity and movement coordination) and her/his gait performance (gait speed, gait symmetry, and force production). 1.1. Primary Objectives To determine if MRI DWIBS can accurately identify suspicious lesions previously categorized on mammography and sonography as potentially malignant. We will also validate whether DWIBS-MRI ADC values can be used to accurately differentiate benign from malignant lesions. Additionally, because it is not known whether tumor type or growth rate (Ki67 values) will affect our results, we will include these parameters in our analysis. Once we validate the use of DWIBS-MRI ADC values to determine malignancy, can we establish an ADC threshold value to decrease the number of false positive biopsies that are performed while still maintaining a zero false negative rate? This study will also assess the correlation between ADC values and the Ki-67 proliferative index of malignant lesions. Read Less

This research study is to determine if donor blood stem cells given after living, related, HLA antigen (Ag) haplotype match or living, unrelated donor kidney transplantation. Minimal HLA antigen matching will include matching of 2 HLA antigens that can be either HLA A, B, and /or DR. More information is needed on how children fight off influenza virus, as they are at greater risk for developing severe influenza infection and tend to have weaker responses to influenza vaccination. The purpose of this study is to understand how a child's early exposure to influenza vaccine or infection with influenza virus prepares him or her to combat future infections with this virus. Investigators will learn about how protection develops following an influenza infection or vaccination and the impact this has on future vaccine responses. The information learned may allow us to develop better vaccines against influenza virus in the future. Read Less

The purpose of this study is to test different methods of preparation that can be used prior to a test called an FDG PET/CT scan. FDG PET/CT scans are routinely done for evaluation of heart inflammation. Standard preparation for the scan includes a ketogenic (high fat and low carbohydrate) diet for 24 hours and overnight fasting to help suppress the amount of sugar taken up in the heart muscle. However, Investigator still do not know if this preparation is the most effective method. So the Investigator, want to investigate alternative methods for decreasing the amount of sugar uptake seen in the heart during FDG PET/CT scan, thus, investigator will have participants try up to 3 different methods of preparation prior to the FDG PET/CT scans to see which type of preparation works the best. This study T-Cell Project 2.0 is based on the former International PTCL study designed by the International T-cell Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Study Group (T-Cell Project 1.0: Prospective Collection of Data in Patients With Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma) as a prospective collection of data to predict the prognosis of patients with the more frequent subtypes of PTCL. It is a prospective, longitudinal, international, observational study of patients with newly diagnosed peripheral T-cell lymphoma aiming to verify whether this prospective collection of data would allow achieving a more accurate information on T-cell lymphomas. The study aims to better define the clinical relevance of the new WHO Classification, the role of FDG-PET in staging and response assessment, the prognosis of different entities, the genomic landscape of different subtypes, and to investigate on most optimal treatment strategies for these neoplasms in the real-world population as well as molecular markers and to explore the prognostic or predictive implications of them in PTCL. There is currently no treatment available for COVID-19, the acute respiratory illness caused by the novel SAR-CoV-2. Convalescent plasma from patients who have recovered from COVID-19 that contains antibodies to the virus is a potential therapy. On March 25th, 2020, the FDA approved the use of convalescent plasma under the emergency investigational new drug (eIND) category. Randomized trials are needed to determine the efficacy and safety of COVID-19 convalescent plasma for acute COVID-19 infection. The objective of the CONCOR-1 trial is to determine the efficacy of transfusion of COVID-19 convalescent plasma to adult patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19 infection at decreasing the frequency of in-hospital mortality in patients hospitalized for COVID-19. It is hypothesized that treating hospitalized COVID-19 patients with convalescent plasma early in their clinical course will reduce the risk of death, and that other outcomes will be improved including risk of intubation, and length of ICU and hospital stay. WCM is a U.S. sub-site to this pan-Canadian clinical trial (NCT04348656) which has the potential to improve patient outcomes and reduce the burden on health care resources including reducing the need for ICU beds and ventilators.
