The purpose of this study is to look at mental health services for adults with depressed mood who were diagnosed with cancer at the age of 65 or older. This study will compare the usual approach for connecting older adults with depressed mood to mental health services with the Open Door for Cancer (OD-C) approach. We will find out if the OD-C approach is practical and useful for cancer patients who participate in the intervention and for providers who see or treat cancer patients. Read Less

Sinus infections are sometimes treated with oral antibiotics or nasal steroid sprays, while some patients get better on their own. Some patients may wait a few days or use common over-the-counter remedies to see if their symptoms improve without further treatment. Sometimes this is enough to help patients wait a few days to see if their infection clears up without needing to use antibiotics or nasal steroid sprays. The goal of this clinical trial is to determine if the drug Nizaracianine Triflutate can help surgeons see and avoid the ureters during abdominopelvic surgery. The ureters are thin-wall, collapsible tubes that connect the kidneys to the bladder. They are difficult to see during surgery and are sometimes damaged accidentally. The main questions to answer are: 1) is this drug safe for use in patients undergoing abdominopelvic surgery and 2) can the drug see the ureters while simultaneously providing information about how well they are working. The clinical trial has 3 parts. Surgery patients enrolled in the first part (Phase 2) will receive drug at different doses to determine the best dose. Patients enrolled in the second part (Phase 3A) will be randomly assigned to drug or placebo (sugar), at the best dose from Phase 2, so the two can be compared directly. Patients enrolled in the final part (Phase 3B) will all receive drug at the best dose from Phase 2. Read Less

The purpose of this study is to determine whether people with MCI (Mild Cognitive Impairment) and healthy comparison subjects differ with respect to their ability to hear soft sounds and how their brain understands and processes sound. The investigators are also evaluating, within those with MCI, whether the hearing tests are associated with neurocognitive functioning. The investigators are interested in learning whether changes in cognition in those with MCI can be detected using tests of how the brain processes sound. The investigators hypothesize that participants with MCI will score worse on both hearing tests and neurocognitive tests than participants without MCI. Harris Health System is currently participating, along with two other partners, GoldiFresh Inc., and Brighter Bites, in a cross-sector collaborative home delivery-based Produce Prescription Program (PPRx) pilot initiative that provides consistent access to healthy food plus nutrition education to Medicaid-eligible pregnant women in Harris County, TX, deemed to be at high risk of adverse pregnancy or birth outcomes. The objectives of this study are two-fold: (a) to examine utilization of food basket contents and improvements in diet quality in this home delivery based PPRx program, and (b) to evaluate if and the extent to which utilization of food basket contents outcomes improves with support from an interactive AI-based conversational agent to convert food into healthy meals. Background: Infections in the lower respiratory tract (lungs) are the leading cause of death from infectious disease worldwide. This was true even before the COVID-19 pandemic. Respiratory viruses are still a major health threat. Many of these viruses infect people by penetrating the thin skin that lines the nose. These viruses can also spread easily to other people when they multiply in the tissues that line the nose. Researchers want to learn more about what these viruses do inside the nose, how they get from the nose to the lungs, and how they spread from person to person. Objective: To collect cell samples from inside the noses of healthy people. These cells will be stored for use in future research on respiratory diseases. Eligibility: Healthy volunteers aged 18 years and older. Design: Most participants will have 1 visit on 1 day. They will be asked questions. Those who have a runny nose, coughing, congestion, or fever will be asked to wait up to 21 days before participating. Participants will be given a slender swab with small bristles at the end. They will rub the inside of their nose with the swab. A clinic staff member will be present to help, if needed. Participants will provide their name, age, and sex. The goal of this research study supported by the HEAL Initiative (https://heal.nih.gov) is to investigate the effects transcutaneous auricular neurostimulation (tAN), as delivered through the Sparrow Ascent device, on helping people with co-occurring posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and opioid use disorder (OUD) start and continue buprenorphine treatment. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does the tAN help participants with OUD and PTSD remain in buprenorphine therapy for three months after starting use of the device (i.e., randomization to treatment condition)? * Do participants find the Sparrow Ascent device to be acceptable and use it? * Do participants find the Sparrow Ascent device to be tolerable and comfortable to use? * Do participants find the Sparrow Ascent device to be easy to use with their buprenorphine therapy? * Do participants follow the minimum recommended dose schedule for the Sparrow Ascent device most of the time? Participants will complete a baseline assessment to make sure that they are eligible to participate in the study. The assessment captures information about demographics, substance use and treatment history, opioid withdrawal symptoms and craving, difficult life experiences and PTSD symptoms, mental health and treatment history, quality of life, and recovery resources. After the assessment is complete and the participant has been inducted on buprenorphine as part of standard care, they are randomized to one of two treatment conditions: active tAN and placebo. Participants are trained on how to use the device and return for 12 weekly research visits to check on recent substance use and craving, PTSD symptoms, and their experience using the device. After 12 weeks of using the device, participants will complete a post-active treatment assessment that is nearly identical to the baseline assessment to see if there have been changes in these areas. Researchers will access the medical record to determine whether there is a current prescription for buprenorphine at three months and six months after randomization. Read Less
