Exercise Facilitation of Adolescent Fear Extinction, Frontolimbic Circuitry, and Endocannabinoids
Recruiting
Anxiety disorders commonly begin during adolescence, and are characterized by deficits in the ability to inhibit or extinguish pathological fear. Recent research has provided new understanding of how fear is learned and can be regulated in the adolescent brain, and how the endocannabinoid system shapes these processes; however, these advances have not yet translated into improved therapeutic outcomes for adolescents with anxiety. This study will test whether a behavioral intervention, acute exer... Read More

Pragmatic Use of PAIN-Advanced Dementia Scale in Emergency Departments
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to learn if the Pain in Advanced Dementia (PAINAD) scale can improve emergency pain care in persons living with dementia (PLWD). It is hypothesized that a PAINAD electronic health record (EHR) prompt that appears to emergency department (ED) staff will enable them to accurately assess pain levels and lead to better pain treatment for PLWD.

Novel Approaches to the Treatment of Hypothyroidism
Recruiting
Hypothyroidism is a common condition, more frequent in females, associated with excess of cardiovascular risk and poor quality of life not completely abrogated by treatment with levothyroxine.
There is an unmet need to define a safe, effective, and feasible regimen to be applied in large trials aimed at assessing levothyroxine/liothyronine combination therapy in patients living with hypothyroidism.
To address this knowledge gap we propose a randomized, three-arm, double-blind, controlled, esca... Read More

Investigating the Cholinergic Contribution to Gait Dysfunction in Parkinson's Disease
Recruiting
People with Parkinson's disease often experience problems with 'gait' and balance. Gait refers to the way a person moves while walking, such as their speed and length of steps. Clinical Manifestations and Biomarkers in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Type 4 and Other Inherited Neurological Disorders of RNA Processing
Recruiting
Background:
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis type 4 (ALS4) is an inherited motor neuron disease. People with ALS4 have a change in the amount of RNA and DNA that bind together. This binding of RNA with DNA forms units called R-loops. Researchers want to learn how R-loops are related to ALS4. To do this, they will study people with inherited neurological conditions that may affect R-loop levels. These include ALS4, progressive external opthalmoplegia with mitochondrial deletions (PEOB2), Aicardi-Go... Read More
