A Clinical Trial of the Study Medicine (Called Fosmanogepix) in Participants With Varying Degrees of Hepatic Function.
Recruiting
The primary purpose of this open-label study is to characterize the plasma pharmacokinetics (PK) of manogepix (active moiety of fosmanogepix) in participants with varying degrees of hepatic function following administration of a single oral dose of fosmanogepix. All participants will receive 1 dose of fosmanogepix by mouth before breakfast on the first day at the study clinic. Serial blood samples will be collected to understand how fosmanogepix is changed and eliminated from the body. Particip... Read More

Longitudinal Investigation of Sleep, Memory, and Brain Development Across the Nap Transition
Recruiting
To examine the relations between sleep (nap transitions, sleep physiology), memory, and brain development longitudinally, the researchers will assess n=180 children (in order to acquire n=152 usable data sets) who are 36-54 months of age and habitual nappers at enrollment. In each wave, the researchers will assess memory, memory change over a nap and equivalent waking interval, sleep physiology of the nap, and brain structure and function (using Magnetic Resonance Imagining or MRI). Additionally... Read More

Effects of Brain Stimulation on Cognition, Oscillations and GABA Levels in Schizophrenia
Recruiting
People with schizophrenia often have problems with attention, learning and memory and other cognitive abilities that interfere with their work and school performance. Unfortunately, even our best treatments often do not significantly reduce these cognitive problems. The current study investigates whether or not delivering a very small electrical current to people's foreheads (called, transcranial direct current stimulation; (tDCS)) might improve functioning in the front part of the brain and red... Pharmacokinetic Study of Skeletal Muscle Area-based Paclitaxel Infusion in Patients With Cancer
Recruiting
The primary objective of this pharmacokinetics study is to compare the maximum concentration level of paclitaxel in patients with low/sarcopenic skeletal muscle area (SMA), at the end of a 2-3 hour paclitaxel infusion, to the maximum level in patients with normal SMA at the end of a standard 1-hour infusion with the goal of determining whether lengthening the infusion in patients with low/sarcopenic SMA normalizes the levels to those of patients with normal SMA.

Tocilizumab for Acute Chest Syndrome
Recruiting
The investigators are evaluating the role of a low dose of tocilizumab in treating acute chest syndrome in patients with sickle cell disease. Tocilizumab inhibits interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptors and is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and severe cytokine release syndrome, which can be seen with chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy, and it is also authorized for treatment of COVID-19. Since IL-6 levels are elevated in the sputum of patients with acute chest syndrome, the investigator... Read More

M-Well Bonding Bundle to Improve Patient-Physician Relationships
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn more about the interaction between a patient in the hospital and their treating doctor. A good relationship between patients and their doctors can help improve patient care. Doctors will be asked to use strategies to improve their interactions with patients in the hospital. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Will using the intervention strategies improve doctors' empathy towards their patients? * Will using the intervention strategies lead to... Read More

Digital Support Strategies for Caregiver Home Practice
Recruiting
This project is a pilot trial of the Engaging Families home practice smartphone application (or "app") as an add on to a family-based prevention program. Although there are many evidence-based preventive interventions delivered to caregivers to prevent youth substance use and mental illness and promote youth positive family and youth outcomes, the impact of these interventions is often limited by low home practice of intervention skills among caregivers. The Engaging Families home practice app i... Read More
