Reducing Dropout and Improving Outcomes From PTSD Therapy: When to Switch Therapies or Stay the Course
Recruiting
Investigators' overall objective is to compare methods of identifying individuals who may be experiencing challenges in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and compare methods of intervening to optimize treatment retention and outcomes. Investigators' specific aims are: 1. to determine whether the use of CPT skills versus collaboratively considering switching to Present Centered Therapy (PCT) is more effective in improving outcomes for individuals experiencing challenges with CPT. Outcomes inclu... Read More

Identifying Genetic Causes of IC/BPS
Recruiting
Interstitial cystitis (IC), also called Bladder Pain syndrome (BPS) is a common condition with no known cause or cure. Twin studies and family accounts have suggested that the condition may be genetic or passed down (inherited) from one generation to another. In this study, we are collecting genetic material via blood or saliva and medical information from families in North America in an attempt to identify genetic factors that may cause IC/BPS. We are enrolling inviduals with IC/BPS and their... Read More

Wide-Field and High Resolution In Vivo Imaging in Visualizing Lesions in Patients With Oral Neoplasia Undergoing Surgery
Recruiting
This clinical trial studies wide-field and high resolution in vivo imaging in visualizing lesions in patients with abnormal or uncontrolled oral cell growth (neoplasia) undergoing surgery. Diagnostic procedures, such as wide-field and high resolution in vivo imaging, are devices that let researchers look at a wide area of the lining of the mouth by shining different colors inside the mouth and taking pictures and this may help doctors to decide if a mouth lesion has a high risk of being pre-canc... Computer-based Neurocognitive Assessment in Children With Central Nervous System Tumors Receiving Proton Beam Radiation Therapy
Recruiting
This study will explore neurocognitive performance in pediatric brain tumor patients receiving proton beam radiation therapy (PBRT). The investigators goal is to gather baseline neurocognitive testing prior to the completion of the first week of radiation therapy along with follow-up testing 6-12 months after the completion of radiation and serial annual testing thereafter. With these data the investigators plan to evaluate the effects of PBRT on neurocognitive performance as it relates to patie... Read More

Aging, Geriatric Syndromes and Clonal Hematopoiesis
Recruiting
In this study the investigators will incorporate a wide range of clinical variables associated with aging and cardiovascular disease to determine whether they are associated with mutation status independent of chronologic age. Clinically, aging can be operationalized using geriatric assessment, which entails a comprehensive multi-dimensional assessment of the health of an older adult, including measures of comorbidity, polypharmacy, functional status, cognition, depression, falls, social activit... Effects of Contralateral Strength Training on Postoperative Strength Deficits in the Immobilized Lower Extremity
Recruiting
This is a prospective, randomized controlled trial that will enroll patients undergoing unilateral meniscal root repair or meniscus transplant. The objective of this study is to determine if immediate postoperative strength training of the contralateral (non-surgical) lower extremity reduces postoperative loss of strength in an immobilized lower extremity. After the completion of surgery, patients will be randomized to either the experimental treatment (Group 1) or control group (Group II)for p... Read More

Effects of Ondansetron on Gastrointestinal Sensorimotor Dysfunctions in Diabetes Mellitus and Dyspepsia
Recruiting
Researchers are trying to understand why people with indigestion and diabetes mellitus have gastrointestinal symptoms and in particular to understand whether symptoms are related to increased sensitivity to nutrients in the small intestine. As part of this investigation, a medication called ondansetron will also be studied to determine its effects on gastrointestinal function and associated symptoms.

Feasibility of a Constant Pressure Skin Disk (CPSD) in Enteral Tubes.
Recruiting
Researchers are gathering information on one specific part of a feeding tube, known as the adjustable skin disk. Researchers are trying to see if a new type of adjustable skin disk, called a Constant Pressure Skin Disk (CPSD), can safely and effectively support adequate healing, and reduced complication rates.

Negative Pressure Wound Therapy in Healing Abdominal Incision in Obese Patients Undergoing Breast Reconstruction Surgery
Recruiting
This trial studies the safety and how well negative pressure wound therapy works in healing the abdominal incision in obese patients undergoing free flap breast reconstruction surgery. Using negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) instead of standard dressing (bandages) may improve wound healing at the surgical site in the abdomen where tissue was collected for breast reconstruction surgery.

Ischemic Conditioning Improves Walking Function Post Stroke
Recruiting
This innovative study will address scientific and clinical areas relatively unexplored in chronic stroke that could lead to greater recovery of walking. Ischemic Conditioning (IC) is a non-invasive, simple procedure that improves motor function, exercise performance and cardiovascular function in healthy controls, but it has never been applied to the stroke population. We postulate that IC enhances the recruitment of motoneurons and results in positive neural adaptations, improves vascular endot... Read More
