The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to compare opioid medication consumption after surgery for patients who have a total knee replacement. The main questions it aims to answer are: * How well does the study drug control pain in the days after surgery? * Does the study drug reduce the amount of opioid analgesic consumed after surgery? Participants in the study group will undergo a total knee replacement as planned with their surgeon. In addition, be given the study drug, Zynrelef (combination of bupivacaine and meloxicam). Researchers will compare the above to a control group who will have a total knee replace only according to usual standards to see if there are any differences in the amount of a type of pain medication (opioid analgesic) consumed in the days following surgery. The long-term study goal is to experimentally evaluate the components (and likely active ingredients) of early language interventions for young children with ASD. The overall objective is to determine how single-word and telegraphic simplification affects real-time language processing and word learning in young children with ASD (relative to full, grammatical utterances). The proposed project will investigate three specific aims: 1) Determine how single-word and telegraphic simplification affects language processing. 2) Determine how single-word and telegraphic simplification affects word learning. 3) Evaluate child characteristics that may moderate the effects of linguistic simplification on language processing and word learning. Aim 1 will test the hypothesis that children with ASD will process full, grammatical utterances faster and more accurately than single-word or telegraphic utterances. Aim 2 will test the hypothesis that full, grammatical utterances will support word learning better than telegraphic or single-word utterances. Aim 3 will test the hypothesis that language and cognitive skills significantly moderate the effects of linguistic simplification on language processing and word learning in young children with ASD. The objective of this study is to evaluate efficacy of varied medical and procedural therapies used to treat pain after surgical amputation of a limb. The primary outcome will be assessment of pain severity at rest and with movement as measured by pain scores on Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) 0 to 10, where 0 is not pain and 10 is the worst pain possible, taken on post-operative day 1, day 7, 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, and 1 year (+/- 3 days at each time point). We are testing a brain stimulation method along with evaluating objective tools to help record and restore communication among affected brain areas, which will facilitate recovery in youth after mTBI. Randomized and controlled experimental study to evaluate how influencer food ads on TikTok affect calorie purchases among youth (ages 10-13). Participants will be randomized to one of two conditions: (1) seeing an influencer with food or (2) seeing an influencer without food. Participants will complete a 15-minute survey in which they will be randomized to one of two conditions and view and rate TikTok influencer ads associated with their condition. Then they will complete a food purchasing task in which they will shop in an online store that will display six food items and six beverages. Finally, they will answer demographic questions (e.g., self-reported height and weight) and view a debriefing summary that describes the full purpose of the study. Read Less

The investigators propose a randomized controlled trial of Telehealth-Enhanced Asthma Care for Home After the Emergency Room (TEACH-ER) vs. enhanced care (EC). TEACH-ER includes: 1) brief, pictorial, and health literacy-informed asthma education in the ED, with color- and shape-coded labels provided for home asthma medications; 2) virtual primary care follow-up within 1 week of discharge using in-home telemedicine (Zoom) when possible, featuring provider prompts for guideline-based preventive therapy and home delivery of prescribed medications with pictorial action plans; 3) two additional in-home virtual visits to reinforce teaching, review treatment plans, label medications, and support effective management practices. The investigators will enroll 430 children (ages 3-12 yrs) from the two dedicated pediatric EDs in our region, and follow all participants for a 12-month period. The investigators will call caregivers to complete blinded follow-up telephone surveys at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after discharge. The investigators will assess the effectiveness of TEACH-ER in reducing the need for additional asthma-related ED visits or hospitalizations in the 1-months after enrollment. Additional outcomes of interest include asthma symptoms, medication adherence, absenteeism from work and school, quality of life, and the delivery of care consistent with national asthma care guidelines. The goal of this clinical trial is to test the effects of a ketogenic diet on the progression and control of type 1 diabetes in children with newly diagnosed diabetes. The main questions to answer are: * Does a ketogenic diet prolong the honeymoon period of type 1 diabetes? * Does a ketogenic diet improve diabetes control? * Is a ketogenic diet safe, acceptable and sustainable in children with newly diagnosed diabetes? * What are the microbiome, inflammatory and metabolic changes linking diet to β-cell function? Participants will receive a combination of free meals, groceries, micronutrient supplements, and intensive diet and diabetes education for 9 months. * Diabetes care devices will be connected for cloud-based data collection. * Bi-weekly data downloads and remote check-ins will assess dietary intake, satisfaction with diet and study procedures, and possible safety concerns. * During four study visits held at at baseline, 1, 5, and 9 months, an intravenous catheter (IV) will be placed for collection of 5 blood samples before and up to 2 hours after a liquid test meal (protein shake) to assess insulin response. A stool sample will also be collected to assess microbiome changes. * Children and their caregivers may be invited to participate in a semi-structured interview, and online questionnaires to assess their experience with the diet and diabetes care, general well-being and quality of life. * Children and their caregivers may be invited to participate in a follow-up visit to evaluate long-term effects after 24 months. This study will evaluate the feasibility of a digital health coaching program for adults with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (R/R MM). One hundred adults with R/R MM will be enrolled at The University of Washington. Individuals who agree to take part in the study and sign an informed consent will be enrolled in a 3-month digital health coaching program. The program will provide weekly phone calls plus the delivery of learning materials to text or email. Questionnaires and data from a wrist-worn activity tracker will be collected. Outcomes include treatment and symptom experience, quality of life, financial burden, and how confident people feel to manage their health. Information about your condition and treatment will be collected, along with how often you use services like the emergency room, for care. This data will provide a better understanding of how a person experiences their R/R MM. Read Less
