Biliary Atresia Study in Infants and Children
Recruiting
Little is known about the factors that cause biliary atresia nor the factors that influence disease progression. The purpose of this study is to collect the pertinent clinical information, genetic material and body fluid samples to enable investigators to address the following aims: To identify the gene or genes implicated in the etiology of BA; To identify polymorphisms that may be important in disease progression such as HLA polymorphisms; To characterize the natural history of the older, non-... Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis in Children
Recruiting
Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a rare liver disease that damages the liver's bile ducts. Bile ducts are tiny tubes that carry bile from the liver to the small intestine. Bile is a liquid produced by the liver that helps us absorb and use the nutrients in the food we eat. In people with PSC, the bile backs up into the liver and will damage it, causing scarring of the liver.
The purposes of this study are to:
* Collect medical and other data to learn more about PSC, how it progresses, a... Read More

Topical Betamethasone Versus Moisturizer in Preventing Radiation Dermatitis in Large-Breasted Patients Treated in the Prone Position
Recruiting
Radiotherapy (RT) is common in the treatment of breast cancer, however, 95% of breast cancer patients are at risk of developing acute and chronic skin toxicities known as radiation dermatitis (RD) which includes symptoms such as pruritus, edema, erythema, and moist desquamation (MD). Patients with a larger breast size are especially at risk of developing RD. The severity of RD can impact patient's quality of life (QOL) and their ability to complete treatment. Skin care guidelines for patients re... Read More

Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Undiagnosed Asthma or COPD: THE UCAP 2 TRIAL
Recruiting
Our research group has found that Canadians with undiagnosed asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have increased respiratory symptoms and worse health-related quality of life.
The investigators recently developed and validated an on-line questionnaire to accurately identify these symptomatic, undiagnosed individuals.
The investigators will advertise in the community asking individuals to complete the on-line questionnaire at home, at their leisure, to determine if they are at... Read More

RecruitmEnt Assessed by eleCtRical Impedance Tomography
Recruiting
The RECRUIT study is a multinational, multicenter physiological observational study conducted by the PLUG working group. It is a single-day study (1.5-2 hours) associated with specific lung (de)recruitment maneuvers to verify the feasibility of measuring the potential for lung recruitment in mechanically ventilated patients with ARDS by electrical impedance tomography (EIT).

Assessment of a Novel Sound-based Treatment for Managing Distress Related to Tinnitus
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to assess the effectiveness of a sound-based passive treatment for reducing stress and annoyance induced by tinnitus, and how this therapy may improve tinnitus sufferers' quality of life. The main questions it aims to answer are: • \[question 1: to assess the efficacy of the LUCID/VIBE in managing the tinnitus handicap (measured by the reducing of the annoyance/stress response to tinnitus) contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of people living... PREdicting Failure of Non-inVasIve Ventilatory Support Using Non-invaSIve mONitoring in Non-intubated Patients With Acute Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure or Post-extubation Failure. The PREVISION Study
Recruiting
The goal of this observational study is to assess the potential non-invasive tools (e.g. regional ventilation, respiratory muscle response, lung mechanic's parameters) to identify the risk of failure when using high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) or non-invasive ventilation (NIV).
The main question, it aims to answer is:
Does abnormal regional ventilation could predict HFNC or NIV failure?
