Pharmacokinetics and Safety of Commonly Used Drugs in Lactating Women and Breastfed Infants
Recruiting
Over half of women in the US who are breastfeeding their infants take prescription drugs. You are being asked to participate in this study because you are breastfeeding your infant and are currently taking, as part of your medical care, at least one of the drugs we are studying. We are interested in studying drugs commonly prescribed to women who are breastfeeding so we can learn more about the amount of drug that is transferred to breastmilk and estimate how much of drug that is consumed by bre... STING MARK Universal Fiducial Marker System
Recruiting
Currently available fiducial marker and fiducial insertion strategies are rudimentary, imprecise, not compatible with multiple insertion catheters/needles and are overall unreliable. STING-MARK device is the first universal, fully detachable and non-premounted radiopaque fiducial device system. Allowing biopsy prior to insertion, STING-MARK is easily and reliably delivered through-the-needle to the tumor, in order to accurately pinpoint its location for image-guided therapies. This study aims at... Read More

Supporting Patients by Family Education in Psychotic Illness: A Prospective Cohort Study
Recruiting
Background: A lack of education, resources, and support for family carers of young adults with psychotic illnesses leaves them ill-equipped to support their loved one. Although family support groups exist, few groups offer evidence-based, skills-focused, psychoeducation taught by certified professionals and provided on a public-health level. By equipping families with skills and knowledge, public healthcare harnesses a powerful ally to maintain community stabilization.
Aims: The primary study g... Read More

Neuromodulation for Schizophrenia
Recruiting
Our proposed study employs a novel approach to determine the clinical and functional imaging effects of brainstem neuromodulation, with an investigational study device, on illness awareness in schizophrenia - a significant contributor to medication non-adherence and poor treatment outcomes, and arguably the most treatment resistant manifestation of the disorder.
The study device under investigation provides a safe and non-invasive method of brainstem stimulation that will be used in conjunction... Read More

Validation of a System Using Aerosol Glycerine to Detect and Localize Intraoperatively Pulmonary Air Leaks
Recruiting
Air leaks represent one of the most common complications and postoperative morbidity in thoracic surgery. Air leaks have been associated with the largest preventable morbidity associated with increased costs following lobectomy (typically related to increased length of stay). However, the standard used to detect and localize the air leaks, the submersion test, is not suitable for the standard surgical procedure, Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery. Considering the prevalence of this complication and... Read More

Albumin Utilization in Adult Cardiac Surgical Patients: Retrospective
Recruiting
All heart surgery patients universally require hydration, which is given through a vein in the arm, but practices for treating patients are not universal. There are disagreements about whether crystalloids should be used alone or in combination with albumin. This question has important implications because albumin is an expensive blood product in relatively limited supply, and 20% of its use is by heart surgery patients. The goal of this study is to learn more about how crystalloids and albumin... Read More

Fragility Fractures of the Pelvis (FFP)
Recruiting
Prospective data will be collected in approximately 420 patients, above the age of 65, suffering from an FFP type fracture equal to or higher than type II, according to Rommens and Hofmann.
Patients will be followed up according to the standard (routine) for up to 1 year after the treatment. Data collection will include underlying disease, treatment details, functional and patient reported outcomes (PRO)s, radiological outcomes, and anticipated or procedure-related adverse events (i.e. complica... Genomic Biomarker-Selected Umbrella Neoadjuvant Study for High Risk Localized Prostate Cancer
Recruiting
The objective of this study is to see if providing an appropriate therapy based on the genomic testing of prostate tumour tissue will result in an improved clinical response.
Each participant will be treated with 8 weeks of a luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonist (LHRHa) plus apalutamide (APA) while genome sequence characterization is being done. Participants with biopsy specimens deemed unevaluable for genomic testing will remain on LHRHa plus APA for an additional 16 weeks.

ARDS in Children and ECMO Initiation Strategies Impact on Neurodevelopment (ASCEND)
Recruiting
ASCEND researchers are partnering with families of children who receive extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) after a sudden failure of breathing named pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (PARDS). ECMO is a life support technology that uses an artificial lung outside of the body to do the lung's work. ASCEND has two objectives.
The first objective is to learn more about children's abilities and quality of life among ECMO-supported children in the year after they leave the pediatr... Read More

Do Intravaginal Devices Reduce Urinary Incontinence in Female Runners?
Recruiting
More than one in five females experience the embarrassment and shame of urine leakage while exercising and this urinary incontinence (UI) is a substantial barrier to exercise. As many as one in three females with UI report that they limit their physical activity due to incontinence: 11.6% by not exercising at all, 11.3% by exercising less and 12.4% by changing the type of exercise they perform. It is imperative to look for alternatives to manage this condition, as it is a key reason why females... Read More
