Study the Effect of Upper Expansion Appliances on Lower Jaw Forward Projection/Growth
Recruiting
Young children with backward positioned lower jaw/chin will be recruited to have an upper jaw expansion appliance. Previous research showed that the use of similar appliances can lead to lower jaw forward growth. 60 young children aged 9-11 will be recruited to have either active or non-active Wilson type upper arch expansion appliance. Patients will have special x-ray (Cone Beam computed tomography) before and after treatment (after 9 months) of starting the treatment. After participation, rout... Read More

Intranasal Dexmedetomidine Plus Ketamine for Procedural Sedation
Recruiting
Orthopedic injuries comprise more than 10% of ED visits in children and 25 to 50% of children will sustain a fracture before age 16 years. Distal radius fractures account for 20-32% of fractures in children, making them the most common fracture type. Between 20 and 40% of extremity fractures in children require a closed reduction, often necessitating procedural sedation and analgesia (PSA). Intravenous (IV) ketamine is the most commonly used sedative agent used to perform a closed reduction. How... Read More

Narrative Enhancement and Cognitive Therapy for Self-Stigma in Youth
Recruiting
The goal of this pilot clinical trial is to assess the feasibility of conducting a full-scale study to learn if a new youth-adapted Narrative Enhancement and Cognitive Therapy (NECT-Y) reduces self-stigma in youth living with bipolar disorder or multiple mental health conditions. The main questions it aims to answer are:
* What is the feasibility of conducting a definitive clinical trial in terms of recruitment success, study retention/compliance, treatment retention/compliance, and absence of... Read More

Reexamining Her Cardiovascular Risk - Ottawa WomeN's Longitudinal Cohort Study
Recruiting
The full HER CROWN will be a prospective cohort study to propose a novel, women-specific cardiovascular risk score/ algorithm in the prediction of hard cardiovascular outcomes (myocardial infarction, unstable angina, coronary revascularization, stroke, total and cardiovascular mortality). This future study will be the first longitudinal cohort study, to our knowledge, that is focused entirely on researching the pathophysiology and natural history of cardiovascular disease in women with known fem... Directional Bilateral Thalamic Patterned Stimulation (Chronos)
Recruiting
Population Size and Eligible Patients: The investigators aim to recruit 5 to 10 patients with tremors who have previously undergone Ventral Intermedius Deep Brain Stimulation (VIM-DBS) treatment but have experienced early or late loss of benefits. Additionally, the investigators will enroll ten patients with essential tremor who require VIM-DBS surgery. These individuals will undergo bilateral implantation of Boston Scientific Genus Implantable Pulse Generator (IPG) devices, connected to Boston... Read More

Study of Individuals Affected With Hypoplasminogenemia
Recruiting
This is an Investigator initiated retrospective and prospective single cohort study. The study will utilize an international registry and develop a specimen biobank to provide an improved understanding of the natural history of hyposplasminogenemia, to elucidate the heterogeneity of phenotypic expression, identify markers to predict disease course, and inform improved therapeutic modalities

Emergency Medicine Pulmonary Embolism Testing Multicentre Study
Recruiting
It is important to diagnose pulmonary embolism in a timely manner to prevent death and long-term disability. More than half a million people (4-5% of emergency department patients) are tested for pulmonary embolism, although the positive rate is low. Imaging for PE testing exposes patients to radiation, is expensive, adds time to the emergency visit, and can lead to a false positive diagnoses. Existing protocols aimed at reducing unnecessary pulmonary embolism imaging are complex and seldom used... Read More
