The proposed research will used community-based participatory research methods in an urban-based American Indian (AI) community to adapt, implement, and evaluate an after-school program, called Native Spirit (NS), that seeks to improve cultural identity, self-esteem, resilience, and prevent substance use by increasing cultural engagement. Prior research suggests that AI youth that are culturally engaged experience better health outcomes. Additionally, the use of culturally-specific after-school programs has been shown to increase feasibility and sustainability of prevention programs. In order to achieve the goals of this proposed study, the Principal Investigator (PI) will work with local community members and existing tribal partners to implement the 10-session culturally-grounded after-school program and evaluate the program with the following aims: Specific Aim 3 (R00): Examine the effectiveness of NS (increases exposure to local cultural values and activities), a program that seeks to prevent or decrease substance use by strengthening self-esteem, resilience, and cultural identity with 2 Indigenous communities in Arizona using a wait-list control design with 3 data collection timepoints and participant interviews. This study will use a randomized control trial (RCT) design to administer two versions of a multisession remote behavioral intervention for youth seeking Emergency Department care for a violent injury with the goal to reduce their violence involvement and associated negative behaviors and consequences. The study examines two versions of the remote therapy intervention - a standard RTI (S-RTI) and an Artificial Intelligence RTI (AI-RTI). The application of a just-in-time adaptive strategy to address youth violence is an important and novel direction for this research, particularly given the need to understand best practices for delivering behavioral interventions among lower-income populations. Phase 1 will consist of a small pilot Open Trial (OT). The objective of Phase 1 is to develop an organization-level Youth Engagement (YE) prevention strategy and implement it in a community-based organization to test feasibility and acceptability in an open trial with one organization. This will include developing a manual for systematically incorporating YE into prevention efforts in community settings. Phase 2 will consist of a small pilot Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT). Four prevention organizations will be randomized either to include Youth Engagement in prevention efforts (treatment) or not (control). The study team will attempt to match the treatment and control groups on relevant characteristics such as geographic location (e.g., urban, rural), population served (e.g., church-based, school-based), and/or prior Youth Engagement involvement. The objective of the second phase of this study is to evaluate the preliminary effectiveness of YE as a prevention strategy for opioid misuse in a small pilot randomized control trial (RCT). This pilot study will examine the effects of the YE prevention strategy on (a) organization-level outcomes, such as perceived value added to prevention programming and (b) individual-level outcomes such as personal skills and attitudes as well as knowledge and attitudes about substances including opioids. The purpose of this trial is to test the efficacy of a collaborative care intervention to address opioid- and/or stimulant-involved polysubstance use in adult primary care patients with moderate to severe substance use disorders (SUD). The primary aims are to reduce days of opioid use (illicit or nonmedical opioid use), days of illicit stimulant use (cocaine, methamphetamine), and days of heavy alcohol use. Read Less

The investigators have previously developed an integrated bio-behavioral intervention to promote PrEP uptake and adherence in cisgender women who are undergoing treatment for trauma-related mental health conditions and who are at a higher risk for HIV. The intervention is delivered within the mental health treatment setting and integrates knowledge, behavioral skills, and motivation to engage in and adhere to PrEP care. The purpose of this study is to assess the preliminary efficacy, feasibility, and acceptability of this intervention. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the safety, feasibility, and tolerability of psilocybin treatment in individuals with functional impairment due to psychiatric symptoms. The secondary objective of this study is to determine whether individuals with functional impairments due to psychiatric symptoms will experience statistically significant symptom reduction and functional improvement from baseline symptom measurements (Visit 3) to 1-week (Visit 7), 4-weeks (Visit 8), and 6-weeks (Visit 9) post dosing. The investigators will recruit individuals with mood, anxiety, trauma, addictive, or related symptomatology, and who have functional impairment associated with these symptoms. A DSM-5 diagnosis is not required (nor is it an exclusion). The investigators will allow for comorbidity and only exclude based on psychological and physiological safety considerations. Critically, this approach will allow us to assess the tolerability of our interventions in individuals who would typically be excluded from efficacy studies due to various comorbid DSM-5 conditions. The investigators will employ an open-label study where participants will be given one dose of oral psilocybin 25mg. The investigators will also have follow-up visits at 1, 4, and 6 weeks and an optional long-term follow-up at 3, 6, and 12 months. Read Less

80 young adult men will complete an initial survey and receive 1 of 2 types of alcohol and sexual health education and information to encourage prevention of alcohol-related problems, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Participants will then take pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention and complete a daily 5-minute, telephone-based interactive voice response (IVR) assessment of alcohol/substance use, sexual behavior and PrEP taking for 30 days. The goal of this combination Type 1 hybrid and observational study is to evaluate the impact of a peer delivered intervention of acceptance and comittment therapy(ACT) + exercise + social support to address the substance (ab)use, violence, and AIDS/HIV (SAVA) to improve medication adherence for women living with HIV (WLWH). This intervention will be implemented by community based organizations that focus on WLWH across four counties. The main question it aims to answer are: * Will peer provision of ACT, exercise, and social support improve medication adherence for WLWH? * Will community based organizations be able to sustain the intervention after research is completed, and what changes will need to be made to sustain th eintervention.
