Virtual Reality (VR) for Prone Pain Procedures

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) distraction in patients undergoing interventional pain procedures in the prone position. VR has been shown to improve patient experience during interventional pain procedures, however, many of these procedures are done in the prone position making VR a challenge. This study will evaluate the effect of a VR headset and support in patients undergoing prone interventional pain procedures compared to control.

This is a single center, prospective, double-blinded randomized controlled trial comparing the efficacy of bilateral superficial cervical plexus blocks (BSCPB) with local wound infiltration vs placebo with local wound infiltration in reducing thyroid surgery postoperative pain. Primary outcomes assessed are post operative pain, quality of life/recovery, post operative nausea/vomiting and opioid use.

Gabapentin to Reduce Opioid Use Postoperatively (GROUP) in Children

The primary objective of this study is to determine if the peri and post operative use of gabapentin in children reduces the need for narcotics after thoracic surgery.
We hypothesize that patients who are given gabapentin will need fewer morphine equivalents postoperatively than those who were not given gabapentin

Using Kinect Motion Capture to Measure Shoulder Motion in Patients Undergoing Capsular Distension for Adhesive Capsulitis
Recruiting
This study will compare shoulder range of motion assessment using the Kinect motion tracking system vs goniometer in patients with adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) undergoing ultrasound-guided capsular distention procedures (standard of care).
The investigators hypothesize that, for shoulder adhesive capsulitis, the Kinect Motion Analysis 2.0 system will provide reliable results in a shorter and more efficient amount of time in comparison to traditional goniometer methods.
