The goal of this Phase 3 clinical trial is study the safety and efficacy of the nextgen anti-CTLA-4 antibody, gotistobart (ONC-392/BNT316), in patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer who have disease progressed on anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibody based therapy. The study will test whether gotistobart, in comparison with chemotherapy agent docetaxel, could prolong the life for NSCLC patients. Patients will be randomized to be treated with either gotistobart or docetaxel, IV infusion, once every 21 days, for up to 17 cycles in approximately one year. Read Less

The study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of delandistrogene moxeparvovec gene transfer therapy in non-ambulatory and ambulatory males with DMD. This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled 2-part study. Participants will be in the study for approximately 128 weeks. A Single port platform (Intuitive SP) is FDA approved for Head and Neck and Urology but has not been widely used in colorectal surgery. The goal of this project is to conduct a clinical trial in 60 participants ranging from age 50-95 with small drusen who are at risk for age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The University of California Davis, Comprehensive Cancer Center's (UCDCCC) Office of Community Outreach and Engagement (OCOE) serves the 19 catchment counties which approximately consists of 5 million residents. Currently, the overall catchment population cancer screening rates fall below 80%. The aim of OCOE is to increase cancer education (prevention, screening, and vaccination) and training. Through education, and encouraging participation in routine screening for early detection, this can help increase cancer knowledge. In addition to cancer education, OCOE wants to educate community members regarding modifiable risk factors which include tobacco usage, being overweight/obese (physical inactivity/poor nutrition), and lack of immunizations. By increasing knowledge of cancer prevention, screening, and vaccination this will help community members become more aware of their cancer risk. Read Less

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) in the dorsal region of the subthalamic nucleus (STN) is very effective for reducing motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD). Modeling studies suggest that this therapy may result in current spread into the ventral STN, causing altered cognitive processes. As a result, current stimulation parameters often lead to worsening in verbal fluency, executive function, and, particularly, cognitive control. There is evidence suggesting that low frequency oscillatory activity occurs across brain circuits important in integrating information for cognition. Preclinical studies and human recording studies indicate these low frequency theta oscillations drive cognitive control during cognitive tasks. Thus, the purpose of this study is to determine the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of low frequency stimulation (LFS) of the ventral STN alongside standard high frequency stimulation (HFS) of the dorsal STN in patients with PD. Most physicians still use a one-size-fits-all approach to breast screening in which all women, regardless of their personal history, family history or genetics (except BRCA carriers) are recommended to have annual mammograms starting at age 40. Mammograms benefit women by detecting cancers early when they are easier to treat, but they are not perfect. Recent news stories have discussed some of the potential harms: large numbers of positive results that cause stressful recalls for additional mammograms and biopsies. With the current screening approach, half of the women who undergo annual screening for ten years will have at least one false positive biopsy. Potentially more important are cancer diagnoses for growths that might never come to clinical attention if left alone (called "overdiagnosis"). This can lead to unnecessary treatment. Even more concerning is evidence that up to 20% of breast cancers detected today may fall into the category of "overdiagnosis." This study compares annual screening with a risk-based breast cancer screening schedule, based upon each woman's personal risk of breast cancer. The investigators have designed the study to be inclusive of all, so that even women who might be nervous about being randomly assigned to receive a particular type of care (a procedure that is typical in clinical studies) will still be able to participate by choosing the type of care they receive. For participants in the risk-based screening arm, each woman will receive a personal risk assessment that includes her family and medical history, breast density measurement and tests for genes (mutations and variations) linked to the development of breast cancer. Women who have the highest personal risk of developing breast cancer will receive more frequent screening, while women with a lower personal risk would receive less frequent screening. No woman will be screened less than is recommended by the USPSTF breast cancer screening guidelines. If this study is successful, women will gain a realistic understanding of their personal risk of breast cancer as well as strategies to reduce their risk, and fewer women will suffer from the anxiety of false positive mammograms and unnecessary biopsies. The purpose of this research study is to determine if rifampin, an antibiotic (a medicine that treats infections), is effective in treating osteomyelitis (infection of the bone) of the foot in diabetic patients. Despite use of powerful antibiotics prescribed over a long period of time, many diabetic patients remain at a high risk for needing an amputation of part of the foot or lower leg because the osteomyelitis is not cured. Some small research studies have shown that addition of rifampin to other antibiotics is effective in treating osteomyelitis in both diabetics and non-diabetics. However, because few diabetics with osteomyelitis have been studied, there is no definite proof that it is better than the usual treatments for diabetic patients. If this study finds that adding rifampin to the usual antibiotics prescribed for osteomyelitis reduces the risk for amputations, doctors will be able to more effectively treat many Veteran patients with this serious infection.
