Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) is a rare immune system disorder that causes asthma, an excessive number of eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) in the blood, and the inflammation of blood vessels, or vasculitis. In order to properly treat EGPA, it is critical that the level of disease activity can be determined over the course of the disease. Scoliosis is a three-dimensional deformity affecting the orientation and position of the spine. Locally, the shape of the vertebra is also affected. The most common form is adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) with a prevalence of 1-3% affecting primarily young adolescent females. AIS can either be treated using a brace and in some cases necessitate surgical correction to prevent progressive deformity. Risk factors for progression include female gender, curve magnitude and location, skeletal maturity and growth velocity. However, these risk factors have been shown to be inconsistent in predicting curve progression. Over the past 6 years, the investigators have developed a predictive model of the final Cobb angle in AIS based on 3D spinal parameters. This analysis was based on a prospective cohort of 195 patients that were enrolled upon their initial visit and followed until maturity. This predictive model has a determination coefficient of 0.702. The proposed new study aims at refining and testing the external validity of this model in a larger cohort. The next step towards using the new model in the clinical setting is to redesign the model and to externally validate the model by measuring the agreement between the new method and the traditional Cobb angle at maturity in a larger multicenter study. The objective of this study is to characterize the risk of scoliosis progression based on local three-dimensional vertebral and pelvic measurements present on initial evaluation. Three-dimensional reconstructions will be derived from stereo-radiographs acquired with a new biplanar low-dose radiographic system installed in all 8 clinical sites (EOS system, EOS-Imaging, Paris). These calibrated radiographs will then be used to reconstruct the vertebrae and intervertebral disks at each level as well as the geometry of the pelvis. A series of local and regional parameters will then be calculated from these 3D reconstructions. Correlation analysis will help determine if intervertebral disk wedging, vertebral wedging, transverse plane rotation or pelvic geometry can be used as early predictors of curve progression in AIS. Identifying a new 3D measure of scoliosis associated with rapid curve progression could help predict which curves need early treatment to prevent further progression. The ultimate goal of this research project will be to validate this new predictive model and finally transfer this new predictive tool in the hands of clinicians treating AIS. Read Less

This clinical trial studies the effects of dexrazoxane hydrochloride on biomarkers associated with cardiomyopathy and heart failure after cancer treatment. Studying samples of blood in the laboratory from patients receiving dexrazoxane hydrochloride may help doctors learn more about the effects of dexrazoxane hydrochloride on cells. The proposed study aims to compare concussion recovery in those supplementing creatine and those not supplementing creatine. Specific aim 1: To compare number of days until asymptomatic between those taking creatine vs. those not taking creatine following a concussion. Hypothesis: The investigators hypothesize that individuals taking creatine will become asymptomatic sooner than those not taking creatine.Specific aim 2: To compare typical concussion assessment scores (i.e., symptom score, mental status, neurocognition, balance, motor coordination, and visual performance) between those taking creatine vs those not taking creatine following a concussion once asymptomatic.Hypothesis: The investigators hypothesize that individuals taking creatine will have better symptom scores, balance, mental status, and neurocognition assessment scores than those not taking creatine once asymptomatic. The investigators will calculate descriptive statistics for all demographic, days to asymptomatic, and concussion assessments. For specific aim 1, The investigators will calculate a t-test to determine if days to asymptomatic differed in those taking creatine vs. those not taking creatine. For specific aim 2, the investigators will calculate t-tests with Bonferonni corrections to determine if concussion assessment scores (Sport Concussion Office Assessment Tool-6 assessments, CNS Vital Signs, visual assessment) differed in those taking creatine vs. those not taking creatine. Gender diverse individuals who use gender-affirming testosterone therapy (GATT) to reduce gender dysphoria may also use progestins for contraception and to manage or suppress uterine bleeding. Research is limited, however, regarding expected bleeding patterns for individuals who choose to initiate GATT concurrently with a progestin. Clinicians who prescribe GATT do not have sufficient data to adequately counsel patients on side effects of concurrent progestin use and therefore extrapolate from studies conducted in cisgender women. This study is a prospective cohort study evaluating bleeding patterns and satisfaction among patients initiating GATT with or without concurrent initiation of a progestin contraceptive. The results from this study will enable clinicians to more accurately counsel patients using GATT on how the use of a progestin might affect their bleeding and whether this differs by progestin method. This is a prospective, observational, multi-center cohort study of pediatric cardiac arrests. The purpose of the study is to determine the association between chest compression mechanics (rate, depth, flow fraction, compression release) and patient outcomes. The proposed project aims to integrate team-based implementation strategies with an established school-based intervention for children with ADHD, the Collaborative Life Skills Program (CLS), to enhance its implementation and optimize its effectiveness. The investigators will tailor three empirically-supported team development interventions, Team Charters, Team Communication Training (Student Handoff Protocols), and Team Performance Monitoring, and integrate them into a team-enhanced CLS implementation protocol (CLS-T). Team Charters are a written document developed collaboratively by the team at the outset of their work together outlining expectations, goals, roles and responsibilities, and relevant policies and procedures for team collaborative operations. Research shows that Team Charters strengthen affective emergent states, such as trust and cohesion among team members, as well as cognitive emergent states, such as shared mental models. They also strengthen team processes, such as goal specification, communication, and coordination to optimize team effectiveness. Handoff protocols are widely used interventions for ensuring continuity in patient care and minimizing errors in medical settings. They have also been found to improve affective (e.g., trust, cohesion) and cognitive (e.g., shared mental models, situation awareness) emergent states among team members, enhancing team communication and coordination. Finally, Team Performance Monitoring provides feedback to teams that can motivate performance, provide opportunities for adaptation in the event of challenges, and prompt communication among team members. The investigators will conduct a Hybrid Type III cluster randomized trial in 24 schools in two large urban school districts, to evaluate whether CLS-T implementation results in improved implementation outcomes and child outcomes in comparison to standard CLS implementation.
