Many cancer patients suffer from pain, sleep, and mood problems and are using cannabis to relieve these symptoms. Cannabis may provide such relief but may also produce negative side effects including cognitive impairment, an especially problematic issue for cancer patients, indicating more research on cannabis use in the cancer context is required. In this endeavor, the present study seeks to compare the use of hemp-derived CBD (Cannabidiol) with and without THC (Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) versus placebo on measures of sleep, pain, mood, subjective and objective cognitive functioning, and quality of life within 185 cancer patients. The goal of this clinical trial is to compare two school based interventions to manage anxiety in autistic students. The main question\[s\] it aims to answer are: 1) Compare the effectiveness of Facing Your Fears-School Based Program (FYF-SB) with Zones of Regulation (ZOR) on anxiety reduction and emotion regulation; and 2) examine the feasibility and satisfaction of FYF-SB and ZOR, according to students, caregivers and school providers. Autistic students with anxiety between 8-14 years will be randomized to either FYF-SB and ZOR. Recent Veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts are presenting in VA care with high rates of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. Difficulties with social relationships and community reintegration are common functional impairments with these disorders. VA is transforming to a Whole Health, patient-centered system of care that will address these issues as part of health care. In a previous study, Omnis Salutis (OS) was developed with Veteran and clinician input. OS is a three-session intervention in which Veterans learn about Whole Health and practice communicating their health mission to providers and social supports. OS was shown feasible to deliver, acceptable to Veterans, and preliminarily effective at improving physical, mental, and social functioning. This study will use a large, multisite randomized controlled trial to test the impact of OS on Veterans' social and physical functioning and Veteran engagement in mental health care. This study plans to learn if creative arts programs that include visual, musical, written, or physical expression can reduce symptoms of burnout syndrome, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety in critical care healthcare professionals. Aerobic exercise has emerged as an effective treatment to reduce sport-related concussion symptom severity, yet existing work lacks rigor regarding the precise exercise volume and intensity required to elicit therapeutic effects, how exercise can alter concussion-related pathophysiology, and whether exercise can prevent the development of secondary sequelae. Our objective is to examine if a high dose exercise program (higher volume than currently prescribed at an individualized, safe intensity level) initiated within 14 days of concussion results in faster symptom resolution, altered physiological function, or reduced secondary sequalae. Findings from this research will lead to more rigorous and precise rehabilitation guidelines and improved understanding about how exercise affects neurophysiological function among adolescents with concussion. The goal of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness of a collaborative care model for primary care patients at Kaiser Permanente Colorado (KPCO) with depression and/or anxiety. Collaborative care uses evidence-based short-term treatments delivered to patients over the phone. We will explore the use of cost-efficient automated processes for patient outreach and follow-up, such as care pools of patients and using patient portal messaging, risk-based results routing to providers, and electronic health record (EHR) tools for patient tracking and outcome assessment. The goals of this study are to determine the feasibility and efficacy of a brief, single-session cognitive-behavioral intervention for reducing preoperative and postoperative anxiety and for determining satisfaction with the delivery process in pregnant women scheduled for Cesarean delivery due to complications with their pregnancy. This will be done through a combination of psychoeducation and exposure therapy, where the participants will be walked through the steps of a Cesarean delivery in an operating room that mimics where the patient would actually be delivering. Follow-up will occur during the immediate and extended postpartum periods to determine satisfaction and levels of anxiety. Read Less

The purpose of this pilot study is to investigate the efficacy of medical play in the dental setting to improve the behaviors and cooperation of neurotypical patients during dental visits. The specific aims of the study are as follows: 1. To evaluate differences in behaviors and cooperation levels of subjects utilizing medical play before a routine dental exam visit in comparison to those undergoing a routine dental exam visit without use of medical play. 2. To evaluate whether subjects who have a dental exam visit, with or without use of medical play, show improved behaviors and improved completion of components of the dental exam compared to their previous routine dental visit. 3. To evaluate provider perceptions of the behavior and cooperation of children using medical play before dental exam visits compared to dental exam visits without medical play. 4. To evaluate caregiver perceptions of the behavior and cooperation of children using medical play before dental exam visits compared to dental exam visits without medical play. 5. To evaluate patient perceptions of the dental exam, visit when medical play is used in comparison to dental exam visits without medical play. The hypotheses are as follows: 1. Subjects will have increased positive behaviors and improved cooperation during dental exam visits when medical play is utilized beforehand. 2. Providers will report improved behavior and cooperation from patients when medical play is utilized beforehand. 3. Parents will report improved behavior and cooperation from their children and report greater satisfaction with the dental visit when medical play is utilized beforehand. 4. Patients will report experiencing less anxiety, via the Modified Child Dental Anxiety Scale - Faces Version (MCDAS-f) after appointments in which medical play is utilized. Read Less
