The city of Aurora, Colorado, currently has 11 active clinical trials seeking participants for Arthritis research studies.
Study to Assess Change in Disease Activity and Adverse Events of Oral Upadacitinib Compared to Subcutaneous Adalimumab in Adult Participants With Moderate to Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis
Recruiting
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease causing pain, stiffness, swelling and loss of joint function. This study will assess how safe and effective upadacitinib is in treating RA when compared to adalimumab in adult participants with inadequate response or intolerance to one TNF-inhibitor who are on a stable dose of methotrexate (MTX). Adverse events and change in disease activity will be assessed. Upadacitinib is an approved drug for the treatment of RA. This study is doubl... Read More

Study of Single Doses of SBT777101 in Subjects With Rheumatoid Arthritis
Recruiting
This study will test the safety and effects of SBT777101 when given as a single dose to subjects with rheumatoid arthritis. It is the first study of this treatment being done in humans. Increasing dose levels will be given after the safety at lower dose levels is shown.

Non-invasive Evaluation of Upper and Lower Body Function With Showmotion
Recruiting
It is very important to understand joint and body kinematics and muscles activity in clinical settings, which is relevant to identify issues related to the spine, the upper and lower limbs due to injury. In this study, the investigators will use an innovative platform, Showmotion to establish baseline of shoulder, hip, knee and spine kinematics and muscles activity from 60 healthy volunteers.

Biologic Abatement and Capturing Kids' Outcomes and Flare Frequency in Juvenile Spondyloarthritis
Recruiting
This randomized pragmatic trial will generate knowledge about strategies used to de-escalate tumor necrosis factor inhibitor (TNFi) therapy in patients with juvenile spondyloarthritis with sustained inactive disease and are treated at one of the 29 participating pediatric healthcare systems. This open label study will be conducted in the setting of routine clinical care and will compare the risk and timing of flare (Aim 1) and patients' lived experiences (Aim 2) across three arms.

Defining the Molecular and Radiologic Phenotype of Progressive RA Interstitial Lung Disease
Recruiting
A study to identify patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis - Associated Interstitial Lung Disease (RA-ILD) that are at the highest risk for progression. The goal of the investigators is to recruit a group of patients with RA-ILD and collect information to help us understand more about disease progression. The investigators will do this using a combination of clinical, radiologic, and biologic features.

Expanding Exercise Programming for Veterans Through Telehealth
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to evaluate the acceptability and feasibility of a group telehealth exercise program for Veterans with lower extremity osteoarthritis (OA). Methods: This is a randomized pilot trial where Veterans (n=50) receive a group telehealth exercise program (3 months), followed by an exercise maintenance phase (6 months) that includes either text messaging alone or text messaging plus group telehealth exercise booster sessions. The primary outcomes for this study are feasibility... Read More

Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients at Risk for Interstitial Lung Disease
Recruiting
The overall goal of this study is to define the phenotype of Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), and identify factors that predict radiologic progression in those with subclinical RA-ILD, in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The investigators hypothesize that there are common core elements (e.g. clinical features, genetic variants, and/or biologic markers) between other forms of ILD (e.g. idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, IPF) and subclinical RA-ILD that places individuals at risk for the devel... Open Access Database of Standing Full Body Radiographs in Asymptomatic Volunteers
Recruiting
A study of the skeletal structure and how the structure changes over time. The aim of the study is to evaluate the skeleton in 10 year increments to determine an understanding of the normal skeleton as a person ages. By using x-ray analysis, a new low dose x-ray system (EOS) can be used to evaluate the whole body to see changes in the bone structure over time. Subjects will be asked to undertake one x-ray analysis of their whole body skeletal structure. There will be 25 male and 25 female subjec... Read More

Sputum Studies of Anti-Citrullinated Protein Antibodies (ACPA) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Origins
Recruiting
The study is designed to learn more about the causes of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). People who get RA have elevated protein markers called autoantibodies in their blood years before initial symptoms of arthritis. The goal of this study is to learn more about how autoantibodies in RA might be related to inflammation in the lungs.
