Multiple Sclerosis Paid Clinical Trials in Colorado

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if stimulating the vagus nerve in combination with a motor task in people with multiple sclerosis can improve motor function. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Is stimulating the vagus nerve safe and feasible after demyelinating episodes? * Does a paired motor task with vagus nerve stimulation improve motor function with someone who has multiple sclerosis? Researchers will compare active vagus nerve stimulation to a sham stimulation to see if the paired vagus nerve stimulation can improve motor control. Participants will: * Come in for study visits over a six month period. Study visits are three times weekly for the first month, then single follow up visits at two, three, and six months. * During study visits, participants will complete 30 minutes of the paired vagus nerve stimulation with a motor task, specifically the grooved peg test. * At various timepoints in the study, motor and disability tests will be administered to see if there are any changes in motor control for that participants. These tests include the timed 25 foot walk test, expanded disability scale, the upper extremity portion of the Fugl-Meyer Assessment, and the Multiple Sclerosis Impact Scale - 29. Read Less

There currently is a lack of evidence to support exercise interventions in people with advanced disability due to MS (i.e., need assistance to walk or use a wheelchair). This project proposes to study a strength training program using blood flow restriction (BFR) in people with advanced disability due to MS. BFR uses a device that partially blocks blood flow to the exercising limb and causes a response in the muscle which can replicate the effects of high-intensity training using much lower intensities. This is ideal for people with MS who have advanced disability, as they often cannot tolerate higher intensity exercise due to severe weakness and fatigue. By studying BFR training in people with advanced disability due to MS, the investigators hope to help improve strength, mobility, fatigue, and quality of life in people with MS. In this study, researchers will learn more about a study drug called BIIB091 in participants with MS who may be experiencing relapses. It is a 2-part study. In Part 1, one set of participants will take either BIIB091 or diroximel fumarate (DRF). In Part 2, a different set of participants will take either a combination of BIIB091 and DRF or DRF alone. The goal of the study is to learn more about the safety of BIIB091 and to compare the effects of the study drug when taken alone or together with DRF. The main question researchers are trying to answer are: * How many participants have new or worsening medical problems (adverse events) after taking BIIB091 or DRF? * How many new areas of inflammation occur in the brain after treatment with BIIB091 and DRF? Researchers will use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans to compare images of the brain before and after treatment. They will also explore the effect of BIIB091 and DRF on the heart using electrocardiograms (ECGs). The study will be done as follows: * After screening, participants who joined Part 1 will be randomly assigned to receive either a high or low dose of BIIB091, or the standard dose of DRF. * The results of Part 1 will be used to choose the best dose of BIIB091 to use in Part 2. * Participants who join Part 2 will be randomly assigned to receive either a standard dose of DRF, a combo of BIIB091 and the standard dose of DRF, or a combo of BIIB91 with a low dose of DRF. * Neither the researchers nor the participants will know which drug or dose the participants will receive in either part of the study. * The treatment period will last 48 weeks in each part of the study. Participants will take the drugs by mouth 2 times a day. * Each part will also have a follow-up safety period that lasts up to 2 weeks. * In total, participants in each part will have 20 study visits, or more if they have a relapse. The purpose of this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group study is to determine the efficacy of frexalimab in delaying the disability progression and the safety up to 36 months double-blind administration of study intervention compared to placebo in male and female participants with nrSPMS (aged 18 to 60 years at the time of enrollment). People diagnosed with nrSPMS are eligible for enrollment as long as they meet all the inclusion criteria and none of the exclusion criteria. The purpose of each study is to independently measure the annualized relapse rate (ARR) with administration of frexalimab compared to a daily oral dose of teriflunomide in male and female participants with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (aged 18 to 55 years at the time of enrollment). People diagnosed with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis are eligible for enrollment as long as they meet all the inclusion criteria and none of the exclusion criteria.
