The state of Colorado currently has 32 active clinical trials seeking participants for Pain research studies. These trials are conducted in various cities, including Denver, Aurora, Colorado Springs and Englewood.
Cannabidiol and Older Adult Cannabis Users
Recruiting
Cannabis use increased 10 fold among adults over the age of 65 between 2014 and 2016 but very little data exists on the extent of their harmful effects on health and behavior. The overarching goal of this project is to test a novel harm reduction strategy in which older individuals who seek to use cannabis for pain, anxiety or mood problems (depression/anxiety) will be randomly assigned to one of three conditions in an 8 week randomized controlled trial: hemp-derived CBD+THC, hemp-derived CBD-TH... Post-operative Cesarean Trial of Pain Control
Recruiting
This study plans to learn more about postoperative pain management after cesarean deliveries (C-sections). As a part of standard of care, the Children's Hospital Colorado's Colorado Fetal Care Center (CFCC) follows the standard Enhanced Recovery After Cesarean (ERAC) guidelines to manage pain following C-section delivery. In addition, the CFCC uses an FDA approved medical device called the ON-Q ® Pump, which continuously delivers local anesthetic medication to control pain in the area of your pr... Read More

Chronic Pain in Rheumatoid Arthritis
Recruiting
The objective is to identify modifiable clinical factors and neurobiological pathways that lead to the development of chronic pain in patients with early rheumatoid arthritis. Participants will undergo quantitative sensory testing, a type of testing that involves assessing response to well-defined, quantifiable painful stimuli, at 0, 3, and 12 months. A subset of participants will also undergo magnetic resonance imaging at 0 and 12 months to assess neuroimaging markers that have previously been... Read More

Wearable Spine Health System for Military Readiness
Recruiting
The goal of this observational trial is to compare the health history and motion capabilities of participants with low back pain disorders to participants with healthy spines. The main question[s] it aims to answer are to: Primary outcomes of this research effort include the development of composite measures or digital biomarkers to track functional recovery over time and predict duty or work status outcomes (return-to-full duty/work, limited duty/work restrictions or medical discharge/long-ter... Comparison of Patient-reported Pain After Initial Archwire Placement
Recruiting
Three different types of 'archwires' can be used in Orthodontic treatment, wire choice is decided by treating Orthodontist based on professional preference since research shows that all types are equally effective. It is possible that one type of wire engenders more patient discomfort. This study will compare the discomfort levels engendered by the three wire types to determine if there is one that induces the least amount.

Efficacy of Combined Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen Therapy Versus Ibuprofen Alone Versus Placebo Alone for Pain Management
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of a combined ibuprofen and acetaminophen regimen in controlling discomfort for 4 days after initial orthodontic appliance placement as compared to ibuprofen alone or a placebo. The hypothesis is that combined ibuprofen and acetaminophen therapy will effectively provide better pain control than ibuprofen alone or a placebo after orthodontic appliance placement.

Identification of Best Postoperative Analgesia Method Following a Minimally Invasive Repair of Pectus Excavatum
Recruiting
Pectus excavatum is the most common chest wall deformity in children, accounting for 90% of all congenital chest wall deformities. It occurs in one to eight per 1000 live births. The severity of the pectus deformity may become more noticeable during pubertal growth spurs and repair is therefore usually performed in the teenage years. A common operative procedure to repair a pectus deformity is the minimally invasive repair of pectus excavatum (MIRPE). The MIRPE involves the substernal placement... Read More

Effects of Aromatherapy on Patient Satisfaction With Surgical Abortion at Less Than 10 Weeks Gestation
Recruiting
The investigators propose a single-site, double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial of lavender aromatherapy versus placebo for patient satisfaction in adult women having a surgical abortion before 10 weeks and 0 days gestation. The investigators will evaluate whether lavender aromatherapy is an effective adjunct therapy for patient satisfaction during first trimester surgical abortion. The investigators will measure satisfaction using the Iowa Satisfaction with Anesthesia Scale (ISAS). T... Read More
