Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) Research Study
Recruiting
If you are identified as eligible for investigational genetic testing, you will be sent a saliva collection kit to your home. Once you have completed and returned your kit to Sano Genetics, your sample will be tested for a specific genetic pathway called BAG3.
Investigational genetic testing can help you better understand your body and its needs, as well as how DCM may be passed down in your family. Those who are identified as having a variant in the BAG3 gene will be referred to an upcoming clinical trial.

Effect of PCSK9 Inhibition on Cardiovascular Risk in Treated HIV Infection (EPIC-HIV Study)
Recruiting
Atherosclerosis in the setting of HIV infection is distinct and includes increased vascular inflammation, worsened endothelial function, and a predominance of non-calcified plaque. These outcomes can be assessed using specialized noninvasive imaging which strongly predict future CV events in the general population.
PCSK9 has emerged as an important pharmacologic target for cholesterol lowering in the general population and recent studies among individuals without HIV have shown that PCSK9 inhib... Read More

Genomic Medicine Risk Assessment Care for Everyone - Implementation Phase
Recruiting
The "Genomic medicine Risk Assessment Care for Everyone" (GRACE)" intervention project will develop a scalable end-to-end solution for risk assessment and management that meets the needs of those populations living in low resource settings. The long-term goal is to increase access to and uptake of risk-informed evidence-based guidelines that will improve population health through better patient outcomes, higher quality of life, and decreased costs. The three primary aims are:
Aim 1: Develop a s... Read More

Mayo AVC Registry and Biobank
Recruiting
Arrhythmogenic ventricular cardiomyopathy (AVC) is a genetic condition which affects the heart and can lead to heart failure and rhythm problems, of which, sudden cardiac arrest or death is the most tragic and dangerous. Diagnosis and screening of blood-relatives is very difficult as the disease process can be subtle, but sufficient enough, so that the first event is sudden death.
The Mayo Clinic AVC Registry is a collaboration between Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA and Papworth Hospital, Cambridg... Read More

Chardonnay Marc and Vascular Response
Recruiting
This study aims to obtain data on the potential influence of Vine to Bar product(s) containing Chardonnay marc on cardiometabolic health. These initial studies will inform the design and timing of data collection for future dietary intervention trials that will examine the influence of Chardonnay marc intake on outcomes/biomarkers of both cardiometabolic health and the gut microbiome. This includes collecting data on the potential differences in response to the products based on the unique food... Read More

Church-based Health Intervention to Eliminate Racial Inequalities in Cardiovascular Health
Recruiting
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the US general population. Although CVD mortality rates declined for both Black and White populations during the past two decades, they are still higher in Black adults than White adults. There are also persistent disparities in CVD risk factors with higher prevalence of obesity, hypertension, and diabetes in Black compared to White populations. In addition, CVD and risk factors are more prevalent in the residents of Louisiana compare... Read More

Virtual Care Strategies to Improve Participation in Cardiac Rehabilitation Among Veterans
Recruiting
Home-based CR (HBCR) is an alternative to traditional CR programs that has comparable efficacy in improving morbidity/mortality and increases access to critical services. There is major potential to improve Veteran engagement in CR by combining digital coaching (d-Coaching) with existing VA-supported technologies. The investigator's theory-based intervention targets a critical component of successful CR engagement that is not available through traditional programs: virtual social support through... Read More

Mediators of Atherosclerosis in South Asians Living in America
Recruiting
South Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepali, and Sri Lankan) individuals have high rates of cardiovascular disease that is not explained by traditional cardiovascular risk factors. Though South Asians represent over one-quarter of the world's population, there are no longitudinal studies in this high-risk ethnic group. The investigators aim to establish a longitudinal study of South Asians at three United States centers to identify risk factors linked to subclinical atherosclerosis and i... Read More

Initial Assessment of the Feasibility and Efficacy of a Scalable Digital CBT for Generalized Anxiety and Associated Health Behaviors in a Cardiovascular Disease Population
Recruiting
The treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in an accessible manner represents an unmet need for those with cardiovascular disease (CVD), given that patients with CVD experience numerous barriers for in-person treatment engagement. The research plan for the proposed pilot project will entail: (1) open study of the acceptability of the digital intervention (N=5), followed by (2) recruitment and randomization of 90 individuals with a history of acute CVD events and clinical levels of GAD s... Structural Conditions and Health After Release From Prison
Recruiting
People released from prison experience two times higher cardiovascular (CV) mortality than the general population, have a high prevalence of poor CV health and increased risk of CV events within 2 years of release. Access to high quality healthcare following release from prison is key to preventing poor health and CV outcomes. Our study team will investigate facilitators and barriers to health care access experienced by people released from prison.
