There are currently 48 active clinical trials seeking participants for Prediabetes research studies. The states with the highest number of trials for Prediabetes participants are Shanghai, California, New York and Ontario.
Metformin and Vascular Function in Prediabetes
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate whether metformin improves vascular function in individuals with prediabetes. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does metformin improve large conduit artery endothelial function in individuals with prediabetes? 2. Does metformin improve microvascular endothelial function in individuals with prediabetes? Researchers will compare metformin to a placebo to see if metformin improves vascular function in prediabetes. The trial duration is... Read More

MHealth Smartphone App and Postpartum Glucose Intolerance for Patients with GDM
Recruiting
Without intervention, approximately 70% of women diagnosed with GDM will develop type 2 diabetes mellitus in their lifetime. Abnormal results of a 2 hour oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) performed as early as 2 days postpartum are predictive of impaired glucose tolerance 1 year postpartum. The investigators hypothesize that use of the Malama smartphone application to optimize antenatal glycemic control will result in lower incidence of postpartum glucose intolerance, which may decrease long te... Weight Inclusive and Adaptive Strategies to Enhance Cardiometabolic Health in Black Adults
Recruiting
The proposed 6-month pilot Sequential Multiple Assignment Randomize Trial (SMART) has two aims. The first and primary aim is to determine the feasibility of conducting a full-scale SMART to compare weight-focused (i.e., weight loss) and weight-neutral (i.e., weight loss is not an explicit goal) adaptive biobehavioral interventions for improving cardiometabolic health in Black adults with overweight or obesity (BMI ≥27 kg/m2) plus at least one weight-related cardiometabolic condition (high blood... Insulin and Insulin Pulses During Fasting
Recruiting
Fasting hyperglycemia contributes disproportionately to nonenzymatic glycosylation and the microvascular complications of type 2 diabetes. However, little is known about the regulation of glucose concentrations in the fasting state relative to what is known about the postprandial state. The proposed experiment is part of a series of experiments designed to establish how glucagon and insulin interact with their receptors to control fasting glucose in health and in prediabetes.

Diabetes Clinical Decision Support
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of an electronic medical record clinical decision support tool on rates of dysglycemia in the hospital, and its clinical and economical outcomes. The study also evaluates the perspectives of providers regarding the tool's usefulness on disease management support, knowledge, and practice performance.

Fresh Takes!: An Evaluation of the Impact of Receiving Fresh Food Boxes
Recruiting
Fresh Takes! is a targeted food distribution and nutrition education program offered by Montefiore Bronx Health Collective, a Federally Qualified Health Center located in the South Bronx. The goal of Fresh Takes! is to help reduce food insecurity and prevent progressions to overt diabetes in patients with prediabetes and to help patients with overt diabetes achieve better diabetic control. To that end, participants receive bimonthly fresh food boxes and nutritional support and education over the... Read More

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Food Insecurities
Recruiting
The objectives of this study are to better understand how FI (food insecurities) contributes to the development of cardiometabolic comorbidities among PWH (People with HIV) and to test a novel bilingual FI intervention designed to reduce these comorbidities among food insecure PWH. The PI and staff will conduct this study in partnership with the Wake Forest Infectious Diseases Specialty Clinic, one of the largest Ryan White-funded clinics in North Carolina, which serves more than 2,000 PWH annua... Feasibility and Preliminary Effects of Fasting-Mimicking Diet in Asian Americans With Prediabetes
Recruiting
This is a pilot study to determine the feasibility of studying the Fasting-Mimicking Diet (FMD), a dietary approach that involves the consumption of a specifically formulated, calorie-restricted nutrition regimen with a customized macronutrient composition, ratio, and quantity over a 5- day period, on a larger scale in Asian Americans with prediabetes and to examine the preliminary effects of the diet in study participants. The main questions the study aims to answer are: 1. What are the recru... Read More

Strategies for Implementing a Postpartum Lifestyle Intervention in WIC Clinics
Recruiting
The primary objective of the STRIVE study is to compare two implementation strategies for Diabetes Prevention Program delivery: an in-person health coach strategy (standard 24 in-person sessions at WIC clinics) vs. a multifaceted technology-assisted health coach implementation strategy (12 in-person sessions at WIC clinics supplemented by technology support) on implementation and health-related outcomes in postpartum women.

Examining the Effects of Vivo on Physical Function and Glycemic Level in Sedentary Older With Prediabetes.
Recruiting
This is a 12-week randomized, controlled trial that seeks to examine the effect of Vivo on 1) change in lower extremity strength defined as number of chair stands done in 30 seconds and 2) change in average glycemic level (HbA1c) compared to a wait list control.

Is the Degree of Perceived Effort During Resistance Exercise Important for Improvements in Blood Glucose
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the degree of effort during a resistance exercise session on blood glucose levels in individuals with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes mellitus. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Do individuals with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes mellitus need to perform resistance exercise with a high degree of effort for their blood glucose to improve? * How do they feel (their enjoyment, discomfort) after the sessions with different degrees of effort? Pa... Read More

Effects of Walking in Greenspace and the Built Environment in Adults With Prediabetes: A Randomized Crossover Trial
Recruiting
Approximately 92 million U.S. adults (\~38% of population) have prediabetes (PreD). Because people with PreD are at high risk CMD, they are a target population for diabetes prevention programs. The focus is people with PreD because of their high risk for developing CMD and large numbers, providing an opportunity to investigate behavioral and environmental approaches as preventive measures in a well-defined population. Urbanization affords challenges and opportunities to public health that includ... Read More
