There are currently 46 active clinical trials seeking participants for Prediabetes research studies. The states with the highest number of trials for Prediabetes participants are Shanghai, California, New York and Florida.
Black Impact: The Mechanisms Underlying Psychosocial Stress Reduction in a Cardiovascular Health Intervention
Recruiting
Lower attainment of cardiovascular health (CVH), indicated by the American Heart Association's Life's Simple 7 (LS7; physical activity, diet, cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index, smoking, glycemia) and Life's Essential 8 (LE8; LS7+sleep) metrics, is a major contributor to Black men having the shortest life-expectancy of any non-indigenous race/sex group. Unfortunately, a paucity of literature exists on interventions aimed at improving CVH among Black men. The team of clinician scientist... Read More

Social Determinants and a Diabetes Prevention Program Tailored for African Americans
Recruiting
African Americans (AAs) have rates of diabetes mellitus (DM) twice that of Whites and are disproportionately affected by leading risk factors for DM - obesity and low-income. A critical strategy in the battle against DM is the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), an evidence-based intervention that significantly delays or prevents Type 2 diabetes through the promotion of diet change, exercise and modest weight loss. However, weight loss from the DPP among AAs is about half that of White participan... Read More

Role of Insulin Action in Psoriasis Pathogenesis
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to collect more information from people with plaque psoriasis and to determine if insulin plays a role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. The main question it aims to answer is if insulin action is preserved or even enhanced in psoriatic lesions despite insulin resistance elsewhere. Participants with plaque psoriasis will have punch biopsies taken of lesional and non-lesional skin after an overnight fast and then during an oral glucose tolerance test. Biopsy specimens wi... Pilot Study of "Bottarga" Supplementation: A Little-known, Sustainable "Blue" Food
Recruiting
This pilot study aims to explore the potential benefits of consuming Greek Bottarga (grey mullet fish roe) in overweight, pre-diabetic individuals. Before initiating the crossover randomized controlled trial (RCT), we will conduct a preliminary dose-testing study in five overweight and pre-diabetic adults.Participants will undergo clinical assessments before and after the dietary intervention to evaluate changes in metabolic health markers. Following this, we will proceed with a randomized, con... Read More

A Randomized Comparison of Stage-Based Care Versus Risk Factor-Based Care for Prevention of Cardiovascular Events
Recruiting
TRANSFORM is a prospective, randomized, open blinded endpoint (PROBE), event-driven, pragmatic trial in patients who are at increased risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular (CV) disease but with no known symptomatic CV disease. The trial tests the hypothesis that a Cleerly Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) Staging System-based care strategy reduces CV events compared with risk factor-based care.

Effect of Increased Physical Activity and Stopping Evening Snacking in Metabolic Health in Youth With Prediabetes
Recruiting
Non-healthy eating habits and a lack of exercise contribute to prediabetes and type 2 diabetes (T2D). Evening snacking is linked to abnormal weight gain in adults and healthy adolescents. Most adolescents do not get enough exercise. This study aims to look at the benefits of more exercise and stopping evening snacking in youth with prediabetes. The study lasts 8 weeks, and participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group or a standard of care group.

An Open-Label Pilot Intervention Trial to Prevent Diabetes in Prediabetic Adult Survivors of Childhood Cancer
Recruiting
This is a first-in survivor, single-arm pilot study with the goal of establishing evidence of feasibility and safety of a combined pharmacologic (metformin) and lifestyle intervention (using an existing digital platform) to prevent diabetes in prediabetic adult survivors of childhood cancer. Primary Objective The primary aim of this proposal is to establish the feasibility and safety of a 24-week combined metformin + intensive lifestyle intervention among adult survivors with prediabetes (incl... Understanding Metabolism and Inflammation Risks for Diabetes in Adolescents
Recruiting
This research study collects health-related information and blood samples to better understand how body composition, lifestyle habits, and diet influence meta-inflammatory monocytes (MiMos) in adolescents. The hypothesis of this study is that adolescents at risk for metabolic disease have enhanced MiMo related activities leading to insulin resistance.

How a Mediterranean Diet With Potatoes Impacts Heart and Metabolic Health in Adults With Pre-Diabetes
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to is to determine the effects of baked potato with the skin (BP) + nutrition education focused on adherence for a Mediterranean Dietary Pattern (MEDNE) on glycemic control, cardiometabolic health, and dietary quality in individuals with pre-diabetes from different demographic backgrounds. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does BP+MEDNE contribute to improvements in indices of glycemic control, vascular function, blood lipids, inflammation/oxidative... Read More

Weight Inclusive and Adaptive Strategies to Enhance Cardiometabolic Health in Black Adults
Recruiting
The proposed 6-month pilot Sequential Multiple Assignment Randomize Trial (SMART) has two aims. The first and primary aim is to determine the feasibility of conducting a full-scale SMART to compare weight-focused (i.e., weight loss) and weight-neutral (i.e., weight loss is not an explicit goal) adaptive biobehavioral interventions for improving cardiometabolic health in Black adults with overweight or obesity (BMI ≥27 kg/m2) plus at least one weight-related cardiometabolic condition (high blood... Effects of Walking in Greenspace and the Built Environment in Adults With Prediabetes: A Randomized Crossover Trial
Recruiting
Approximately 92 million U.S. adults (\~38% of population) have prediabetes (PreD). Because people with PreD are at high risk CMD, they are a target population for diabetes prevention programs. The focus is people with PreD because of their high risk for developing CMD and large numbers, providing an opportunity to investigate behavioral and environmental approaches as preventive measures in a well-defined population. Urbanization affords challenges and opportunities to public health that includ... Read More

Effect of Glucagon on Fasting Insulin Secretion and Glucose Metabolism in Subjects Without Type 2 Diabetes
Recruiting
Fasting hyperglycemia contributes disproportionately to nonenzymatic glycosylation and the microvascular complications of type 2 diabetes. However, little is known about the regulation of glucose concentrations in the fasting state relative to what is known about the postprandial state. The proposed experiment is part of a series of experiments designed to establish how glucagon and insulin interact with their receptors to control fasting glucose in health and in prediabetes.
