Type 2 Diabetes Paid Clinical Trials in Kentucky

This study is open to adults with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease. People can join the study if they have these conditions and do not have a history of heart failure. The purpose of this study is to find out if a medicine called vicadrostat, when taken with empagliflozin, helps reduce cardiovascular risk in people with these conditions. The study will compare this combination to a placebo version of vicadrostat with empagliflozin. Participants are put into 2 groups randomly, which means by chance. One group takes vicadrostat and empagliflozin tablets, and the other group takes placebo tablets with empagliflozin. Placebo tablets look like vicadrostat tablets but do not contain any medicine. Participants take a tablet once per day for 2 and a half years and up to 4 years and 3 months. All participants also continue their medication for type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease. Participants have an equal chance of receiving the study medicine or placebo. Participants are in the study for up to 4 years and 3 months. During this time, they visit the study site regularly. During these visits, doctors collect information about participants' health and take blood samples. The doctors document when participants experience cardiovascular events. The study will look at how well different doses of a new medicine called NNC0487-0111 help lower the blood sugar and body weight in people with type 2 diabetes. NNC0487-0111 is a new medicine which cannot be prescribed by doctors but has previously been tested in humans. Participants will either get NNC0487-0111, which is given as tablets or as injections, or placebo. Which treatment the participant get is decided by chance.The study will last for about 43 weeks. The Gastroparesis Registry 4 (GpR4) is an observational study of patients with symptoms of gastroparesis (Gp) and functional dyspepsia (FD) with either delayed or normal gastric emptying. To better understand these disorders, this registry will capture demographic, clinical, physiological, questionnaire, and patient outcome data to characterize the patients and their clinical course. The goal of this feasibility study is to use family units as support to promote nutrition and physical activity of individuals with type 2 diabetes. The main question it aims to answer is: • How does the family structure impact the health of its members living with type 2 diabetes? Participants will be asked to; * Tell us about their access to food sources and places in the community to engage in physical activity. * A nutrition and physical activity plan will be developed for participants and their families to use for 6 months. Food is Medicine for the whole will test an intervention which provides medically tailored meals, or grocery voucher cards, or a combination of these food and nutrition resources to a caregiver and children living in the household. The study will examine how providing healthy tailored food and nutrition services can improve health outcomes, such as blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Read Less

The main questions it aims to answer are: * Are peer coaching models effective at promoting Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus self-management? * If effective, which facets of the peer model are most effective? Peer coaches will * Undergo peer coach training. * Reach out to peer participants on a weekly/biweekly time frame to discuss self-management and goal setting. * Retain records of contact, topics discussed, and general notes on interactions. Researchers will compare differences in the frequency of contact, as well as how peer coaches were matched to peer participants to see if efficacy of the intervention is altered between groups. Three pieces of information lead to the basis for this study: 1. Individuals with Type-2 diabetes commonly develop peripheral neuropathy. 2. Increased production of the hormone amylin occurs in individuals who have Type-2 diabetes. 3. Aggregations of amylin was found in the peripheral vasculature of rats that overexpressed human amylin. The purpose of this study is to determine whether a correlation exists between the amount of amylin present in the upper extremities of human subjects with Type-2 diabetes and the extent to which symptoms of peripheral neuropathy are expressed in those subjects. The investigators will be testing this by initially collecting blood and skin biopsy samples from subjects, followed by measuring patient sensation and pain responses to heat, cold, and pressure in the upper extremities. The Military Health and Nutrition Examination Study (MHANES) is a Department of Defense funded study conducted by Pennington Biomedical Research Center and the US Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine. This cross-sectional study will assess, in a large, diverse sample of Army Service Members (n=600), food and supplement intake, cardiovascular health, body composition, biomarkers of nutritional status, measures of health status, injury prevalence, mental wellbeing, gut microbiome composition, and physical performance outcomes.
