The state of Maryland currently has 98 active clinical trials seeking participants for Lung Cancer research studies. These trials are conducted in various cities, including Baltimore, Bethesda, Rockville and Annapolis.
A Study of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring-Based Atezolizumab Dosing
Recruiting
Background: A type of drug called monoclonal antibody immune checkpoint inhibitors are often used in cancer treatment. These drugs help the body s immune system fight cancer by blocking proteins that cause cancer cells to grow. One of these drugs (atezolizumab) is approved to treat certain cancers. Researchers want to find out if lower doses of this drug might provide the same benefit with fewer adverse effects. Objective: To test different doses and timing of atezolizumab for people with can... Read More

Osimertinib With or Without Bevacizumab as Initial Treatment for Patients With EGFR-Mutant Lung Cancer
Recruiting
This phase III trial compares the effect of bevacizumab and osimertinib combination vs. osimertinib alone for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer that has spread outside of the lungs (stage IIIB-IV) and has a change (mutation) in a gene called EGFR. The EGFR protein is involved in cell signaling pathways that control cell division and survival. Sometimes, mutations in the EGFR gene cause EGFR proteins to be made in higher than normal amounts on some types of cancer cells. This causes can... Read More

Testing the Addition of a Type of Drug Called Immunotherapy to the Usual Chemotherapy Treatment for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, ALCHEMIST Trial
Recruiting
This phase III ALCHEMIST trial tests the addition of pembrolizumab to usual chemotherapy for the treatment of stage IIA, IIB, IIIA or IIIB non-small cell lung cancer that has been removed by surgery. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as pembrolizumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Chemotherapy drugs, such as cisplatin, pemetrexed, carboplatin, gemcitabine hydrochloride, and paclitaxel, work... Read More

Rapid Autopsy and Procurement of Cancer Tissue
Recruiting
Background: - Individuals with cancer of the lung, chest cavity, ovary, or bladder, as well as patients who have been treated with adoptive cell therapy unfortunately commonly succumb to their disease. Some agree to donate their bodies to cancer research that may help the medical community better understand these diseases. Studies of cancer tumor tissue obtained soon after death may be used to answer questions about the origins, progression, and treatment of cancer. Researchers want to conduct... Read More

Collection of Blood From Patients With Cancer
Recruiting
This study will collect blood from patients with cancer to study the level of cells which decrease the immune response (suppressor cells) before and after chemotherapy. Patients 18 years of age and older with cancer may participate. This study does not involve treatment. Participants will have about 50 ml (3 tablespoonfuls) of blood drawn. Depending on their condition, patients may be invited to enroll in a clinical research study involving chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery. Additional 40-... Read More

Evaluation of Cell Changes in Blood and Tissue in Cancers of the Lung, Esophagus and Lung Lining
Recruiting
Background: * Chromatin is is the structural building block of a chromosome. It is found inside the nucleus of the cell and consists of a complex of DNA and protein. * Cancers of the lung, pleura (lung lining) and esophagus show profound changes in chromatin structure that may affect the course of disease in patients. * A better understanding of these diseases and the genetic changes associated with them may be helpful in developing new treatments for them. Objectives: * To evaluate people wi... Read More

Follow-Up Study of Subjects Previously Enrolled in Poxviral Vector Gene Transfer Studies
Recruiting
This study aims to provide long-term follow-up care of patients previously enrolled in a vaccine study that involved poxviral vectors. Vectors are sequences of genetic material that can be used to introduce specific genes into genetic makeup. The study does not involve the use of any drug or biologic agent. Participants will undergo an annual health history. Because certain viruses enter into cells and create proteins from the viral genes, the type of vaccine treatment used is referred to gene t... Recruiting
Multicenter, randomized (2:1), open-label phase 3 study in HLA-A2 positive patients with squamous and non-squamous metastatic NSCLC with ICI secondary resistance. Patients will be randomized into 2 arms (randomization 2:1): experimental Arm A with OSE2101 monotherapy or control Arm B SoC with docetaxel monotherapy. Stratification factors will be histology (squamous versus non squamous) and ECOG Performance Status (0 versus 1).

This phase III trial compares the effect of adding chemotherapy to immunotherapy (pembrolizumab) versus immunotherapy alone in treating patients with stage IIIB-IV lung cancer. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as pembrolizumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Chemotherapy drugs work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividin... Read More
