The state of Minnesota currently has 37 active clinical trials seeking participants for Healthy research studies. These trials are conducted in various cities, including Minneapolis, Rochester, Saint Paul and Duluth.
A Study to Evaluate the Effect of Genetic Variation on Beta-cell Function During Fasting and Hyperglycemia in Nondiabetics
Recruiting
The GLP-1 receptor (GLP1R) gene is found on the beta cells of the pancreas. Its role is in the control of blood sugar level by enhancing insulin secretion from the pancreas after eating a meal. The purpose of this research study to find out how genetic variations in GLP1R alter insulin secretion, in the fasting state and when blood sugars levels are elevated.

Longitudinal Study to Determine the Effectiveness of the Mobility Checkup for Older Adults
Recruiting
The investigators are developing a new, preventative physical therapy model of care for older adults called Mobility Checkup (MC). Proposed as an annual visit, the MC includes measurement of physical performance and education regarding the importance of maintaining mobility for overall health. The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of and begin data collection for, a longitudinal study of the effectiveness of the Mobility Checkup with a small cohort. This activity will evaluat... Read More

Study of Disrupted Sleep in Somali Americans
Recruiting
The aims of this study are to determine the types and severity of previously undiagnosed sleep deficiencies in otherwise healthy Somali Americans, apply a research framework to define psychosocial, behavioral, environmental, and biological mechanisms mediating sleep deficiencies in Somali Americans, and examine the relationship between sleep deficiencies and increased blood pressure in Somali Americans.

State Dependence of Prefrontal Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation
Recruiting
The study will examine whether the benefits of brain stimulation on mental functioning can be enhanced if an individual is actively engaging the target brain networks while receiving brain stimulation. The study includes two separate sessions and people will complete either a cognitive task or a perceptual task while receiving transcranial magnetic stimulation. The study will measure change in brain function with EEG.
