Lung Cancer Paid Clinical Trials in North Carolina

This is a phase 1, single-center, open-label study that enrolls adult subjects with extensive stage lung cancer or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer that is platinum-refractory and received PD-1 and/or PD-L1 therapy. The purpose of this study is to test the safety of using a new treatment called autologous T lymphocyte chimeric antigen receptor cells against the GD2 antigen (iC9-GD2.CAR.IL-15 T cells) in subjects with lung cancer. How much (dose) of the iC9-GD2.CAR.IL-15 T cells are safe to use without causing too many side effects and what is the maximum dose that could be tolerated will be studied. Modified immune cells as an experimental treatment that combines antibodies and T cells will be used. Antibodies are proteins that protect the body from foreign invaders like bacteria. T cells, also called T lymphocytes, are special infection-fighting blood cells that can kill viruses and other cells, including tumor cells. Although antibodies and T cells have been used to treat cancer and they both have shown promise, neither alone has been able to cure most patients. This study will combine T cells and antibodies to create a more effective treatment. The treatment that is being researched in this study is called autologous T lymphocyte chimeric antigen receptor cells targeted against the disialoganglioside (GD2) antigen that expresses Interleukin (IL)-15, and the inducible caspase 9 safety switch (iC9). The short name for this treatment is iC9.GD2.CAR.IL-15 T cells therapy is an experimental therapy and has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. There are two steps. In the first step, blood will be collected from the subjects to prepare the iC9-GD2.CAR.IL-15 T cells. T cells will be isolated from the blood and modified to make iC9-GD2.CAR.IL-15. The purpose of this study is to develop a brief assessment and need-based behavioral intervention for addressing aging-specific concerns in older adults with lung cancer. The long-term goals of this research include identifying the unique concerns of these patients, providing patients with behavioral skills to address their symptom management needs, and enhancing patient engagement with healthcare specialties targeting aging-specific concerns. In the first phase of this study, participants (12 patients with lung cancer, 6 caregivers, 12 providers) will be asked to participate in two individual interviews (each 30-45 minutes in length) via teleconference. During the first interview, participants will be asked to provide feedback on the current version of the assessment and behavioral intervention. Participants will be asked to describe strengths and weaknesses of the materials, topics to add or remove, and any other suggested changes. After the research team has made changes to the materials, participants will be invited to complete a second interview to provide feedback on the updated materials. In the second phase of the study, 16 older adults with lung cancer will complete the revised assessment and participate in the behavioral intervention, in order to a) evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of the program and b) measure change in depression, anxiety, pain, and dyspnea. The goal of this study is to create a data set to add to Carevive's registry from real world clinical and patient reported data collected using an electronic care planning system (CPS) with remote symptom monitoring that is used in routine care for cancer patients on active treatment. Patients will complete a baseline survey in person using a secured device or remotely using their own electronic device in a location of their choice. Weekly electronic patient reported outcome (PRO) surveys are collected from the patients using the Carevive platform for a minimum of 12 weeks. The goal of this observational study is to learn how a physician uses the results of the Percepta® Nasal Swab test to manage people with a newly identified pulmonary nodule. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does the use of the Percepta Nasal swab test reduce the number of invasive procedures in people with a low-risk result and whose nodule is benign? * Does the use of the Percepta Nasal swab test decrease the time to treatment in people with a high-risk result and whose nodule is cancer? Participants will be randomly assigned to either a group where the test result is provided to the physician (test arm) or to a group where the test result is not provided (control arm). The goal of this Phase 1 clinical study is test tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (known as C-TIL051) with NKTR-255 and anti-PD1 therapy for subjects with refractory non-small cell lung cancer. The purpose of this study is to: 1. Test the safety and ability for subjects to tolerate the TIL therapy 2. Measure to see how the NSCLC responds to the TIL therapy Participants will be asked to: * Provide a tumor sample prior to the start of any treatment which will be used to make the C-TIL051. * Receive standard of care treatment until their lung cancer no longer responds * When necessary, the C-TIL051 will be manufactured by the sponsor and sent back to the site * Subject will then receive chemotherapy (called lymphodepletion) for 3 days followed by 2 days of rest * C-TIL051 will then be infused on day 0 followed by NKTR-255 (IL-15) about 12 to 24 hours later * Pembrolizumab will be administered every 3 weeks for up to 2 years NKTR-255 is a novel polymer-conjugated human IL-15 receptor agonist molecule designed to increase the proliferation and survival of memory CD8+ T cells and enhance the formation of long-term immunological memory which may lead to sustained anti-cancer immune response. The combination of NKTR 255 and TIL's could improve proliferation and persistence of cellular therapies leading to enhanced anti-tumor activity. Read Less
