The objective of this prospective, multi-centre study is to evaluate the performance of ADXBLADDER, a urine MCM5 ELISA test, as an aid in the detection of bladder cancer recurrence. Patients undergoing cystoscopic surveillance in non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) follow-up will be recruited and asked to provide a urine sample to be tested with ADXBLADDER. The purpose of this research study is to determine if taking a pill of estradiol (E2) together with prolonged exposure (PE) therapy can improve this treatment outcome in women diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). 80 subjects will take part in this research study across NYU Langone Health and UPenn (40 subjects at each site). Participants will be randomized into one of two groups, PE + E2 or PE + placebo. The Rett Syndrome Registry is a longitudinal observational study of individuals with MECP2 mutations and a diagnosis of Rett syndrome. Designed together with the IRSF Rett Syndrome Center of Excellence Network medical directors, this study collects data on the signs and symptoms of Rett syndrome as reported by the Rett syndrome experts and by the caregivers of individuals with Rett syndrome. This study will be used to develop consensus based guidelines for the care of your loved ones with Rett syndrome and to facilitate the development of better clinical trials and other aspects of the drug development path for Rett syndrome. In previous studies, Proton Beam Radiation Therapy (PBRT) has been found to show better results in treating patients with cancer, both because there is better control of where in the body the radiation is directed and because it is associated with less severe long term side effects. However, there is limited published data demonstrating these results. The goal of the Proton and Photon Consortium Registry (PPCR) is to enroll children treated with radiation in order to describe the population that currently receives radiation and better compare the short-term and long-term benefits of different types of radiotherapy. The data collected from this study will help facilitate research on radiation therapy and allow for collaborative research. The PPCR will collect demographic and clinical data that many centers that deliver radiation therapy already collect in routine operations. Read Less

There is established evidence that patients with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) may have altered antibiotic pharmacokinetics compared with non-CF patients. Imipenem/cilastatin/relebactam is a novel broad spectrum intravenous beta-lactam/beta-lactamase inhibitor combination antibiotic with potent activity against multidrug resistant Gram-negative bacteria, including imipenem non-susceptible Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Relebactam has also been shown to restore imipenem activity in Burkholderia cepacia complex, a group of opportunistic multidrug resistant pathogens that commonly infect patients with CF. This study will determine the pharmacokinetics and tolerability of imipenem/cilastatin/relebactam in 16 adolescent and adult patients with CF acute pulmonary exacerbations at one of seven participating hospitals in the US, with exploratory aim of reporting relative percent increase in FEV1 from pre- to post-treatment and return to baseline FEV1 after treatment with imipenem/cilastatin/relebactam for acute pulmonary exacerbations due to P. aeruginosa in patients with CF. Patients will receive a 10-14 day course of imipenem/cilastatin/relebactam, dosed according to renal function every 6 hours over 30 mins, with or without adjunctive aminoglycoside or fluoroquinolone therapy per local hospital guidelines. Blood will be sampled during one dosing interval at steady-state (i.e. after at least 3 doses) to determine concentrations and pharmacokinetics of imipenem and relebactam. Relative change in pulmonary function will be assessed two weeks after end of therapy. Safety and tolerability will be assessed throughout the duration of the study. Read Less

Acute low back pain is the fifth most common presenting complaint to the emergency department, accounting for approximately 4.4% of annual visits. The treatment for acute low back pain is often NSAIDs or other analgesic medications. Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) has been shown to be an effective treatment modality for acute low back pain, however, it's use in the emergency department setting is not well described. The adjunct of OMT has the potential to increase patient satisfaction, decrease length of stay and decrease the number of unnecessary prescription medications. We plan to investigate the use of OMT in the setting of acute complaints of low back pain in comparison to the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) as primary treatment modality. The study will be a non-blinded randomized-control trial and will take place in an academic tertiary care center in urban Philadelphia, PA over an approximate one-year timespan. We will utilize osteopathic-trained attending and resident physicians to perform the manipulation. Patients will be randomized into one of three treatment groups: appropriately dosed NSAID therapy alone, OMT in addition to NSAID therapy, or OMT alone. The primary outcome will be the difference in pain score before and after treatment using a VAS scale. Secondary outcomes will include patient and physician satisfaction immediately following treatment. Results will be shared by means of publication to the osteopathic and allopathic communities.
