Sex-specific Determinants of Early-phase Recovery From Skeletal Muscle Disuse
Recruiting
This project is a 2-phase, randomized clinical trial that includes 7 days of unilateral leg disuse (Phase 1), immediately followed by 14 days of bilateral leg rehabilitation (Phase 2). The investigators will recruit cohorts of healthy middle-aged men and women to address their aims: Demonstrate the sex-specific effects of skeletal muscle disuse (Phase 1) Identify key molecular determinates of susceptibility of skeletal muscle atrophy (Phase 1) Map the early, sex-specific molecular time-course o... Stroke Thrombectomy and Aneurysm Registry
Recruiting
This international multi-center registry is used to collect existing information and outcomes for patients undergoing an operation for treatment of injuries to the brain including the blockage of blood flow to an area of the brain, an abnormal ballooning of an artery, abnormal tangling of blood vessels, abnormal formation of blood vessels, tearing of vein, and bleeding in the brain. This information is used to help predict outcomes that undergo an operation for treatment of the above-listed brai... Read More

Comparative Effectiveness of Initial OAB Treatment Options Among Older Women at High Risk of Falls
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to conduct a randomized pilot multi-arm clinical trial comparing a standard course of physical therapist provided pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) to pharmacologic therapy for the treatment of urgency urinary incontinence (UUI) or Overactive Bladder (OAB) in older women at high risk of falling. The central hypotheses for this project are i) a randomized pilot multi-arm clinical trial comparing PFMT to drug treatment for UUI or OAB in older women at high risk of fall... Read More

Post-Brain Injury Walking and Balance Recovery Program
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to test the efficacy of a walking and balance training program designed to safely challenge and improve walking performance and balance in relation to walking speed, strength, endurance, and balance after traumatic brain injury (TBI). The aim and primary hypothesis of this research project is: Aim) Test and implement a new personalized intervention strategy, in addition to usual and customary care at an inpatient rehabilitation clinic, to improve patient outcomes w... Understanding the Long-term Impact of COVID-19 in Adults (RECOVER)
Recruiting
This is a combined retrospective and prospective, longitudinal, observational meta-cohort of individuals who will enter the cohort with and without SARS-CoV-2 infection and at varying stages before and after infection. Individuals with and without SARS-CoV-2 infection and with or without Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC) symptoms will be followed to identify risk factors and occurrence of PASC. This study will be conducted in the United States and subjects will be recruited through inpatien... Read More

Treatment of ppROM With Erythromycin vs. Azithromycin Trial
Recruiting
Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) complicates 4% of pregnancies annually. This pregnancy complication is a major contributor to preterm births and results in neonatal morbidity and mortality. The current standard of care for PPROM subjects between the gestational age of 24 weeks and 0 days and 33 weeks and 6 days, is to administer ampicillin and erythromycin for a total of 7 days. Erythromycin can cause GI upset and some subjects do not tolerate this regimen over the course of 7 day... Read More

Antibacterial-coated Sutures at Time of Cesarean
Recruiting
Abdominal closure with antibacterial-coated sutures has been shown to reduce wound infections after a number of surgical procedures, but none of the previous trials included cesarean delivery. Our objective is to determine whether use of antibacterial-coated sutures reduces surgical site infection (SSI) after cesarean delivery.

Plasma Resuscitation Without Lung Injury
Recruiting
The treatment of patients with major burns requires resuscitation with massive amounts of fluid, typically a type of salt water that is given by vein. This frequently results in injury to vital organs, especially the lungs and kidneys, and even in death. In this study, the investigators propose to use plasma, a specially prepared blood product made from the liquid part of blood, that has undergone special treatment to reduce the risk of disease transmission. The aims include 1) reduce the amount... Read More

Healthy Communities Through CHW Initiatives
Recruiting
Latino(a)s suffer from poor social determinants of health (SODH) conditions more than non-minority populations, and being a minority is risk factor alone for diabetes. In the proposed study, investigators will assist church members in becoming Community Health Workers (CHWs), train them in diabetes, and use an online platform (Salesforce) to track the ability to address healthcare access and quality barriers.
