Carboplatin Treatment Options in New Mexico

The purpose of this randomized, open-label study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of denintuzumab mafodotin plus RICE (rituximab, ifosfamide, carboplatin, and etoposide) when compared to RICE alone in the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) or Grade 3b follicular lymphoma. Eligible patients must also be candidates for autologous stem cell transplant. Patients will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive 3 cycles of study treatment with either denintuzumab mafodotin + RICE or RICE alone. The study will assess whether there is a difference between the 2 groups in the side effects that are reported and the number of patients who achieve complete remission at the end of their study treatment. This randomized phase III trial studies pelvic radiation therapy to see how well it works compared with vaginal implant radiation therapy, paclitaxel, and carboplatin in treating patients with high-risk stage I or stage II endometrial cancer. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Implant radiation therapy uses radioactive material placed directly into or near a tumor to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. It is not yet known whether pelvic radiation therapy alone is more effective than vaginal implant radiation therapy, paclitaxel, and carboplatin in treating patients with endometrial cancer. RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving a chemotherapy drug before surgery may shrink the tumor so that it is no longer present by conventional imaging and tumor markers from serum and cerebrospinal fluid. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Peripheral stem cell transplantation may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy drugs and kill more tumor cells. Combining different types of therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This Phase II trial is studying how well neoadjuvant chemotherapy with or without surgery and with or without high dose chemotherapy and peripheral stem cell transplantation, can increase response rates prior to radiation therapy and increase progression free and overall surviving patients with newly diagnosed intracranial germ cell tumors. This multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial will evaluate the efficacy and safety of carboplatin/paclitaxel and carboplatin/paclitaxel/bevacizumab with and without pictilisib in particpants with previously untreated advanced or recurrent non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Particpants will be randomized to receive 4 cycles of carboplatin (C)/paclitaxel (P) and either pictilisib or placebo, with (participants with non-squamous NSCLC) or without (participants with squamous NSCLC) bevacizumab (B). Anticipated time on study treatment is until disease progression or intolerable toxicity occurs. Participants in placebo arms with disease progression may cross over to open-label active pictilisib.
