This pilot trial studies different high-dose chemotherapy regimens with or without total-body irradiation (TBI) to compare how well they work when given before autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) in treating patients with hematologic cancer or solid tumors. Giving high-dose chemotherapy with or without TBI before ASCT stops the growth of cancer cells by stopping them from dividing or killing them. After treatment, stem cells are collected from the patient's blood or bone marrow and stored. More chemotherapy may be given to prepare for the stem cell transplant. The stem cells are then returned to the patient to replace the blood forming cells that were destroyed by the chemotherapy. Read Less

This study consists of two parts. Part 1 is a dose-escalation/safety evaluation to provisionally identify a dose and regimen of SY-1365 for further evaluation in Part 2. This phase III trial is studying vincristine, carboplatin, and etoposide to see how well they work compared to observation only in treating patients who have undergone surgery for newly diagnosed retinoblastoma. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vincristine, carboplatin, and etoposide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) after surgery may kill any tumor cells that remain after surgery. This study is to determine the feasibility of administering neoadjuvant carboplatin, paclitaxel, and bevacizumab without excessive dose modification or cycle delay in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer, primary peritoneal cancer or fallopian tube cancer. It is not yet known whether giving carboplatin together with paclitaxel poliglumex is more effective than giving carboplatin together with paclitaxel in treating non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying carboplatin and paclitaxel poliglumex to see how well they work compared with carboplatin and paclitaxel in treating women with stage III, stage IV, or recurrent non-small cell lung cancer.
