Bortezomib, Ifosfamide, Carboplatin, and Etoposide, With or Without Rituximab, in Treating Patients With Relapsed or Refractory AIDS-Related Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
Completed
RATIONALE: Bortezomib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as dexamethasone, ifosfamide, carboplatin, and etoposide, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Monoclonal antibodies, such as rituximab, can block cancer growth in different ways. Some block the ability of cancer cells to grow... Read More

Weekly Carboplatin, Paclitaxel and Cetuximab Treatment for Patients With Recurrent or Metastatic SCCHN
Completed
This is a non-randomized, open-label phase II trial of 38 patients with recurrent or metastatic SCCHN. Patients must have an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status of 0-1 with good organ function and will be treated with six weekly cycles of carboplatin, paclitaxel and cetuximab. Following assessment of response, the treating physician at their discretion may continue to treat with weekly cetuximab as maintenance until disease progression. The study is designed to evaluate... Chemotherapy Treatment for Children With Intraocular Germ-Line Retinoblastoma
Completed
Retinoblastoma is an unusual cancer of early childhood involving tumor is both eyes or, in certain circumstances, one eye only. This condition is the result of an abnormal gene which makes both retinas (the back of the eye) vulnerable to develop multiple tumors. Growths in the eye impair vision temporarily or permanently. These tumors are malignant, which means that they can grow within the eye, spread outside of the eye, and be fatal if untreated.
Standard therapy for bilateral retinoblastoma... Read More

Docetaxel and Trastuzumab With or Without Carboplatin in Treating Women With HER2-Positive Breast Cancer
Completed
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies such as trastuzumab can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. It is not yet known if docetaxel and trastuzumab are more effective with or without carboplatin in treating women who have HER2-positive breast cancer.

Paclitaxel and Carboplatin With or Without Celecoxib Before Surgery in Treating Patients With Stage IIIA Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
Completed
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy such as paclitaxel and carboplatin use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Celecoxib may increase the effectiveness of a chemotherapy drug by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug, may stop the growth of tumor cells by stopping blood flow to the tumor, and/or may block the enzymes necessary for tumor cell growth. Giving combination chemotherapy with celecoxib before surgery may kill more tumor cells.

Paclitaxel and Carboplatin in Treating Patients With Metastatic or Recurrent Solid Tumors and HIV Infection
Terminated
This phase I clinical trial is studying the side effects and the best dose of vorinostat when given together with paclitaxel and carboplatin in treating patients with metastatic or recurrent solid tumors and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Vorinostat may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the... Read More

Study of Vemurafenib, Carboplatin, and Paclitaxel
Completed
The goal of this clinical research study is to find the highest tolerable dose of vemurafenib that can be given in combination with carboplatin and paclitaxel patients with advanced cancer. The safety of the study drug combination will also be studied.
Vemurafenib is designed to block a protein (called mutated BRAF) that is only found in moles (spots) of the skin and certain types of cancer cells. This drug may slow the growth of or kill these cells.
Carboplatin is designed to slow the growth... Read More
