RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin and paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Erlotinib may make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. Giving carboplatin and paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation together with radiation therapy and erlotinib may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving carboplatin and paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation together with radiation therapy and erlotinib works in treating patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, doxorubicin , cyclophosphamide, paclitaxel, and gemcitabine work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving combination chemotherapy after surgery may kill any remaining tumor cells. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying three different combination chemotherapy regimens and comparing how well they work in treating women who have undergone surgery for node-positive breast cancer. Pazopanib will be given with TAXOL in one part, in another part pazopanib will be given with TAXOL and PARAPLATIN, and in a third part pazopanib will be given with TAXOL and lapatinib (patients separated in each part). Toxicity monitoring will enable us to find the largest dose of pazopanib daily that can be safely given in combination with the chemotherapy agents TAXOL and PARAPLATIN, and with lapatinib, as well as what side effects are likely to manifest when these agents are given together and whether the combination of pazopanib with chemotherapy, helps to treat different types of cancer. Another objective is to find out how much pazopanib, TAXOL, PARAPLATIN and lapatinib are in the blood at specific times after the agents are given. This study seeks to develop a new induction chemotherapy regimen which is a combination of two pill drugs taken by mouth and two drugs given by vein. RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation, doxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Colony-stimulating factors, such as pegfilgrastim, may increase the number of immune cells found in bone marrow or peripheral blood and may help the immune system recover from the side effects of chemotherapy. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some find tumor cells and kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Others interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Bevacizumab may also may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Giving these treatments before surgery may make the tumor smaller and reduce the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed. It is not yet known which treatment regimen is more effective in treating women with breast cancer. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Bevacizumab may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Giving hydroxychloroquine together with carboplatin, paclitaxel and bevacizumab may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of hydroxychloroquine when given together with carboplatin, paclitaxel, and bevacizumab and to see how well they work in treating patients with recurrent advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
