Semaglutide is a medicine studied in patients with NASH. Semaglutide is a well-known medicine, which is already used by doctors to treat type 2 diabetes in many countries. Participants will either get semaglutide or a dummy medicine - which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants will need to inject themselves with medicine under the skin. Participants will need to do this once a week. The study will last for about 5 years. Participants will have up to 21 clinic visits and 9 phone calls with the clinical staff during the study. Some of the clinic visits may be spread over more than one day. Participants with other chronic liver diseases cannot take part in this study. This study will look at how well CagriSema helps people with type 2 diabetes lower their blood sugar and body weight. CagriSema is a new investigational medicine. Doctors may not yet prescribe CagriSema. CagriSema will be compared to a medicine called tirzepatide that doctors may prescribe in some countries. The main purpose of this study is to compare the effects of semaglutide (Ozempic®) with the effects of other treatments for type 2 diabetes in a normal practice setting. The participant will be assigned by chance (like flipping a coin) to one of the following treatment groups: Group 1: semaglutide (Ozempic®) (by injection into skin) Group 2: standard of care antidiabetic medication (oral or injectable). The participant has an equal chance of being in either of the treatment groups. Neither the participant nor the study doctor or study staff will be able to pick which group the participant is in, but the participant will know which study drug the participant has been assigned to. The study doctor will provide the participant with a prescription for the study diabetes medication based on the treatment group the participant is assigned. This study compares the effect and safety of 2 dose schedules for semaglutide (study medicine) in people with type 2 diabetes previously treated with a diabetes medicine similar to semaglutide. The study will also evaluate the use of a new pen-injector for semaglutide used to inject medicine under the skin, at a new dose of 2 mg. People taking part in the study will take this medicine together with their current diabetes tablets other than semaglutide. Participants will either get a start dose of 0.25 mg semaglutide or 0.50 mg semaglutide, and the dose will be gradually increased to 2.0 mg semaglutide - which treatment is decided by chance. Participants will inject semaglutide under the skin once a week, any time of the day. When the dose reaches 2.0 mg semaglutide, participants will inject the medicine with a new type of pen-injector. The study will last for about 24 weeks. Participants will have 9 visits and 1 phone call with the study doctor. At 9 visits participants will have blood taken and at 2 visits they will have eye examination done. Women cannot take part if pregnant, breast-feeding or planning to become pregnant during the study period. Women who are able to get pregnant will be checked 10 times for pregnancy via urine tests.
