CIPN Decision Aid for the Improvement of Chemotherapy Decision Making in Patients With Breast Cancer
Recruiting
This clinical trial studies how well a chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) decision aid works in improving chemotherapy decision making among patients with breast cancer. CIPN involves numbness or tingling in the hands or feet and is a debilitating side effect of several commonly used classes of cancer drugs. CIPN symptoms are typically minor at first but can progress with continued treatment to severe symptoms that can affect long-term function, falls risk, and quality of life. Sy... Read More

YAG Laser Vitreolysis for Vitreous Floaters
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to measure how the quality of life, the structure of eye, and vision change after treatment for the opacities in the gel (vitreous) that fills the center of eye which cause vision disturbances commonly called "floaters". In this study the vitreous floaters are treated using a Neodymium-doped yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) laser. The FDA has approved the use of this laser to treat membranes in the eye.

The Use of Leukapheresis to Support HIV Pathogenesis Studies
Recruiting
Despite the dramatic improvements that have resulted from combination antiretroviral treatment, long-term efficacy, toxicity, cost, and the requirements for life-long adherence remain as formidable challenges. Also, there is emerging consensus that persistent HIV-associated disease occurs during long-term highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). This disease may be due to either direct drug-toxicity and/or persistent viral replication/production and/or persistent HIV-associated inflammation... Read More

Effect of PCSK9 Inhibition on Cardiovascular Risk in Treated HIV Infection (EPIC-HIV Study)
Recruiting
Atherosclerosis in the setting of HIV infection is distinct and includes increased vascular inflammation, worsened endothelial function, and a predominance of non-calcified plaque. These outcomes can be assessed using specialized noninvasive imaging which strongly predict future CV events in the general population. PCSK9 has emerged as an important pharmacologic target for cholesterol lowering in the general population and recent studies among individuals without HIV have shown that PCSK9 inhib... Read More

Feasibility Study to Treat Lung Cancer With the Permanently Implantable LDR CivaSheet®
Recruiting
This is a feasibility study to determine the usefulness of a brachytherapy device that utilizes active components (palladium-103) of standard devices in a novel configuration, which may benefit lung cancer patients by reducing the radiation dose to critical structures, such as the heart wall, while giving a therapeutic dose to diseased tissue, such as at a surgical margin.

Investigation of Brain Mechanisms Involved in Urgency Urinary Incontinence
Recruiting
This is a randomized double-blind crossover trial of trospium and placebo in women with urgency urinary incontinence, with evaluation (history, physical, incontinence evaluation and brain MRI) at baseline, and after each course of therapy. The investigators will evaluate functional brain changes in relation to bladder improvement in order to improve our knowledge of the brain's role in the continence mechanism.
