This phase Ib trial is to find out the best dose, possible benefits and/or side effects of osimertinib and tegavivint as first-line therapy in treating patients with EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to other places in the body (metastatic). This is an observational study to investigate the improvement of NMJ defects in adult patients with SMA following treatment with Risdiplam. Eligible patients will have received treatment with daily oral Risdiplam after receiving approval through their commercial insurance or drug assistance program. This phase II trial compares the effect of initial vaccination (PCV20 followed by PSV23) with yearly vaccinations of PSV23 to the standard 5 year vaccination in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. At present chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients are poorly protected by anti-pneumococcal vaccination. Current vaccination schedule for chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients is based on general recommendations in immunocompromised patients (initial vaccination with PCV13 followed by one dose of PSV23 after an interval of two months, followed by revaccination at 5 years). Giving patients frequent immunization as compared to 5 year immunization may result in higher protective titers in patients. Read Less

In this study, patients who have undergone facial paralysis surgery will be asked to participate. The goal of this study is to compare the facial disability and perception outcomes of facial reanimation surgeries in patients with extensive and permanent, unilateral paralysis using 3D analysis, and compare patient-centered outcomes of facial appearance, well-being, and satisfaction using validated questionnaires. The focus point of this study will be on outcomes of mid-facial reanimation surgeries in patients with more extensive and permanent, unilateral, paralysis of varied etiology and presentation. The specific aims of the study are as follows. Specific Aim 1. To quantitatively determine the surgical effects/impact on facial disability (facial impairment and disfigurement) among four surgically treated groups of patients with unilateral facial paralysis who undergo free gracilis muscle transfer driven by (1) a trigeminal nerve (nV) graft, (2) a crossface nerve graft (nVII), (3) dual innervation comprising both nerves, and (4) midfacial modification. 1. We will compare the changes in facial disability among the groups before and after surgery, and the differences in facial disability between each surgery group and the controls before and after surgery. 2. Specific Aim 2. To compare among the surgery groups the changes in self-perceptions of facial appearance and well-being that occur due to facial reanimation surgery, and to compare the surgery groups before and at 18 months to historical controls recruited during the tenure of the R21 grant. 3. Specific Aim 3. In patients with facial paralysis, to compare surgeons' current qualitative assessment and 2D, quantitative assessment of facial impairment and disfigurement with the objective, 3D, quantitative assessments in order to determine the clinical utility of the 3D assessment approach as an outcome measure and relevance for dissemination to the surgical community. This clinical trial develops and tests a mobile health (mHealth) intervention to improve adherence to lifestyle recommendations in colorectal cancer (CRC) survivors and their family caregivers. The current challenge for cancer survivorship is identifying novel approaches to help adhere to the lifestyle recommendations that have been shown to improve symptom burden, health outcomes, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL). The development of a digital health intervention specifically for CRC survivors and family caregivers may improve adherence to the American Cancer Society Nutrition and Physical Activity Guideline for Cancer Survivors and improve family health. The purpose of this study is to explore the feasibility, fidelity and acceptability of an aquatic therapy assessment and intervention for children ages 3-9 with neuromotor deficits such as cerebral palsy. Due to health and wealth disparities, no demographic group is more at risk than African American women for the double jeopardy of stress from caregiving for persons living with dementia (PLWD) and stress associated with hypertension (HTN). This double jeopardy puts those they care for in jeopardy as well: Reduced quality of life and longevity, disability, cognitive decline, and stroke associated with HTN1 impede caregiving activities and resultant health and well-being for persons living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). Although successful multi-component interventions have addressed ADRD caregiver stress (REACH II) and the Savvy Caregiver program, to our knowledge there are no interventions that target the complexity of chronic caregiving stress and HTN self-care for African American women caregivers of persons living with ADRD. This project will test two interventions for their effectiveness in improving outcomes for the target group: Mindfulness in Motion (MIM) and the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH). MIM includes mindful awareness and movement from a seated position, breathing exercises, healthy sleep, and guided mindfulness meditation. The DASH component will be tailored for Black Americans. It uses a critical thinking approach that involves problem solving, participant-centered goal setting, health coaching, reflection, and development of self-efficacy (confidence) to promote physical activity and healthy eating. Solid empirical evidence demonstrates its effectiveness in reducing blood pressure among mixed-race samples. Read Less

This is a prospective, registry trial which will enroll women aged 65 and above with early stage, low risk breast cancer who will be treated with partial mastectomy and intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). The primary aim is to determine the 5-year risk of in-breast tumor recurrence. This randomized controlled trial will evaluate whether use of the PulsePoint system increases bystander CPR or defibrillator use compared to standard dispatch procedures in patients who suffer non-traumatic, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in a public location. Half of all suspected cardiac arrest 9-1-1 calls in a public location will receive PulsePoint alerts (treatment arm). The other half of this eligible patient cohort will receive standard dispatch procedures (control arm). Read Less
