Thirty percent of children with autism barely talk or do not talk at all despite years of intervention. This study aims to address this important and long-standing challenge by developing a novel intervention to increase the quantity and quality of vocalizations (i.e., sounds children make before words) and expressive language in young children with autism (aged 2 to 5 years) with minimal verbal skills. The intervention includes contingent responses to the child's vocalizations and vocal elicitation strategies. This study is a Phase 1/2, first-in-human, open-label, clinical trial to assess the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and preliminary efficacy of ENV-501 in patients with advanced-stage, relapsed and/or refractory human epidermal growth factor receptor 3 (HER3)-expressing solid tumors. The study consists of 2 phases: a dose escalation phase (Phase 1) and a dose expansion phase (Phase 2). The primary objectives of Phase 1 are to characterize the overall safety and tolerability profile of increasing doses of ENV-501 in patients with advanced-stage solid tumors and identify the recommended Phase 2 dose (RP2D) of ENV-501. During Phase 1, successive cohorts of patients will receive escalating doses of ENV-501. The results of the dose escalation will determine the RP2D and dosing schedule of ENV-501 to be administered in the Phase 2 part of the study. The goal of this study is to identify genes that convey susceptibility to congenital diaphragmatic hernia in humans. The identification of such genes, and examination of their structure and function, will enable a delineation of molecular pathogenesis and, ultimately, prevention or treatment of congenital diaphragmatic hernia. There are many different possible modes of inheritance for congenital anomalies, including autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive, and multifactorial. Multi-factorial inheritance is responsible for many common medical disorders, including hypertension, myocardial infarction, diabetes and cancer. This type of inheritance pattern appears to involve environmental factors as well as a combination of genetic variations that together can predispose to or produce congenital anomalies, such as congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Our study is designed to establish a small, well-defined genetic resource consisting of 1) Nuclear families suitable for linkage analysis by parametric,non-parametric (e.g. sib pairs, TDT) and association techniques, 2) Individuals with congenital diaphragmatic hernia who can be directly screened for allelic variation in candidate genes, and 3) Individuals who can serve as controls (are unaffected by congenital diaphragmatic hernia). Neonates and their families will be collected from homogenous and heterogeneous populations. By characterizing diverse populations, it should be possible to increase the likelihood of demonstration of genetic variation in selected candidate genes that can then be used in association and linkage studies in individual subjects with congenital diaphragmatic hernia. The aim of this study is to determine the frequency of the three most common BReast CAncer gene 1 (BRCA1) and BReast CAncer gene 2 (BRCA2) genetic mutations that are commonly found in Ashkenazi Jewish patients with pancreatic cancer. Testing for BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations in relatives of hereditary pancreatic cancer patients may have a significant impact; allowing for early screening, treatment, and resection of pre-malignant tissue or malignant lesions. This phase II trial studies how well chemotherapy with or without radiation or surgery works in treating participants with esophageal or gastric cancer that has spread to less than 3 places in the body (oligometastatic). Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as fluorouracil and capecitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Surgery, such as complete surgical resection, may stop the spread of tumor cells by surgically removing organs or tumors. Giving chemotherapy with radiation or surgery may work better than chemotherapy alone in treating participants with oligometastatic esophageal or gastric cancer. Read Less

The intent of this study is to establish a registry of post-surgical outcomes in patients undergoing radical cystectomy at MD Anderson Cancer Center and the collaborating institutions. The goals of this initiative are to obtain a detailed baseline of multiple patient-reported outcomes (PRO) and clinician-reported outcomes (CRO) as well as various presenting conditions associated with them, so that future quality improvement interventions can be evaluated accurately as to their relative contribution to improved outcomes. Perioperative aspiration of gastric contents is a rare but serious adverse event. The risk of aspiration can be estimated by perioperative evaluation of stomach contents with ultrasound using a validated technique and scoring system. A lack of knowledge or familiarity is frequently cited by anesthesia providers as a rationale for not performing perioperative ultrasound assessments. The purpose of this study is to determine whether novice ultrasonography users (medical students, undergraduates, or inexperienced anesthesiologists) can be effectively taught a technique to evaluate stomach contents as compared to experts in ultrasonography.
