Since 2000, at least 250,000 U.S. Service members have experienced a blast-related mild traumatic brain injury. A retrospective analysis of over 100,000 post-9/11 Veterans shows that blast injury more than doubles the risk of a diagnosed auditory problem. Many blast-exposed Veterans experience "functional hearing difficulties" (FHDs): problems in challenging listening environments despite clinically normal hearing as measured by the pure-tone audiogram. VA audiologists have begun using low-gain hearing aids to treat FHDs, but there are no concrete guidelines for this application given standard procedures rely on the pure-tone audiogram. This study proposes a data-driven approach called speech-based audiometry (SBA), which optimizes hearing aid gains from a patient's responses to speech stimuli in aided conditions. This trial will assess the behavioral (speech recognition in noise, subjective listening difficulty) and neurophysiological (functional neuroimaging during a speech recognition task) benefits of low-gain hearing aids programmed conventionally or with SBA among blast-exposed Veterans with FHDs. Prostate cancer has the second highest incidence rate and is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men worldwide. The purpose of this study is to assess safety, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy of ABBV-969 as a monotherapy. ABBV-969 is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). There are parts to this study. Participants will receive ABBV-969 as a single agent at different doses. Approximately 140 adult participants will be enrolled in the study across sites worldwide. In part 1 (dose escalation), ABBV-969 will be intravenously infused in escalating doses as a monotherapy. In part 2, multiple doses will be selected from Part 1 and mCRPC participants will be assigned to one of these doses in a randomized fashion to determine the recommended Phase 2 dose. The estimated duration of the study is up to 3 years. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. This study seeks to address the multifaceted challenges posed by food disparities and their negative consequences on health outcomes, via a comprehensive community health intervention program. Study objectives include: 1. To describe the social-demographic and clinical factors associated with food insecurity in the hospitalized diabetic population. 2. To design, implement and evaluate a nutrition program targeting the hospitalized diabetic population. The investigators will prospectively randomize the target population into either a nutrition program (Intervention), or state-of-art standard of care (SOC) in a 4:1 ratio. Participants in the intervention group will be provided the following two resources in addition to SOC: 1) Enhanced access to nutritious food (twice daily meal delivery up to 90 days post-discharge) 2) Education at discharge and continuing outreach to enhance knowledge for better diet and food options. 3. To enhance community engagement and develop a systematic implementation plan for long-term roll-out of the nutrition program. Read Less

Fasting hyperglycemia contributes disproportionately to nonenzymatic glycosylation and the microvascular complications of type 2 diabetes. However, little is known about the regulation of glucose concentrations in the fasting state relative to what is known about the postprandial state. The proposed experiment is part of a series of experiments designed to establish how glucagon and insulin interact with their receptors to control fasting glucose in health and in prediabetes. This project is a pilot study of an adapted intervention of an existing Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) treatment retention intervention called Recovery Management Checkups (RMC). This intervention has been adapted to better fit the experiences and unique issues of those that have been hospitalized with serious injection related infections (SIRI) based on the findings from a prior qualitative study from the principal investigator. This project plans to test the adapted intervention within a smaller group of participants to assess feasibility, acceptability, and calculate early findings of intervention efficacy. Hospitalizations for SIRIs are a unique entry point for patients to start their recovery journey with medications for OUD (MOUD), but many people do not remain on long-term treatment, despite evidence that indicates MOUDs reduce death and re-hospitalization after SIRIs. The study objectives are to: * Assess the implementation feasibility of the adapted RMC model for patients with SIRI and OUD. * Establish preliminary estimates of intervention efficacy. * Make further adaptions to the intervention that will reduce both known and unknown barriers to care and increase effectiveness in future larger scale trials. Findings from this pilot study will result in further intervention refinement to better fit the target population, and serve as the basis for a larger randomized control trial that will have aims focused on more in-depth analysis of the efficacy of this program Read Less

This phase II trial tests how well defactinib and avutometinib in combination with nivolumab works in treating patients with LKB1-mutant non-small cell lung cancer that has not responded (refractory) to an anti-PD1 treatment and may have spread from where it first started to nearby tissue, lymph nodes, or distant parts of the body (advanced). Defactinib and avutometinib belong to a class of drugs called kinase inhibitors. These drugs target kinase proteins found in tumor cells. Tumor cells need these proteins to survive and grow. By blocking these proteins, defactinib and avutometinib may cause tumors to stop growing or grow more slowly. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab, may help the body's immune system attack the tumor and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving defactinib and avutometinib in combination with nivolumab may kill more tumor cells in patients with anti-PD1 refractory LKB1-mutant advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Read Less

Investigators are studying how a device called The Lung Master device can help people breathe better. The investigational device increases the amount of air our lungs can hold, which is important for overall lung health. The Lung Master is not approved by the FDA. The study has two visits approximately one month apart. In the first visit participants will take a spirometry test, particularly forced vital capacity (FVC), to measure volume change in the lungs. Participants will take the investigational device home to use daily, either in the morning or evening. Use will be recorded in a diary. After one month, participants will return for another spirometry test. Each study visit will take about one to two hours to complete. Read Less

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if statins work to prevent strictures in adults with Crohn's disease. The main question it aims to answer is: * Can statins reduce the formation of strictures in participants with stricturing Crohn's disease? Researchers will compare statins to a placebo (a look-a-like substance that contains no drug) to see if statins work to prevent strictures from forming. Participants will: * Take statins or a placebo every day for 6-12 months * Visit the clinic for lab tests twice after starting either statins or placebo * Complete questionnaires about symptoms and medications * Respond to monthly check-ins (via phone call) during participation Read Less

The ALL ALS Clinical Research Consortium is establishing research to collect a wide range of samples, clinical information and measurements from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) symptomatic, ALS gene carriers and control cohorts. This consortium is begin funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NIH/NINDS) and managed by two clinical coordinating centers (CCC) at Barrow Neurological Institute and Massachusetts General Hospital. The clinical sites are distributed across the country, and led by a group of collaborative principal investigators. Once data and samples are collected and harmonized, it will be made available to research community for future research into ALS and related neurological diseases. PREVENT protocol is specific for asymptomatic participants who are genetically at risk for ALS. The participants will be followed for up to 36 months (3 years), and will include 4 in-person on-site visits once a year and 6 off-site(remote) visits once in 4 months. The study includes collection of medical history, clinical outcomes, and blood samples once in 4 months. Additionally, the participants will complete patient reported outcomes and speech recordings once in 4 months. Participants may also provide optional Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) samples.The participants may also opt into a sub-study if they are interested in genetic testing for ALS causative genes. The sub-study will involve a minimum of 3 visits over a course of 2-3 months. This will include a screening/pre-test genetic counseling visit, a return of genetic results and a post-test counseling visit. Read Less

The purpose of this study is to find out what causes kidney disease in people with CF. The investigators will study biomarkers in the blood and urine that can either predict who is at risk or detect kidney damage early before it becomes permanent. The study will compare these markers in people with CF over time and during the treatment of lung flare-ups. It will also compare the blood and urine samples obtained from people without CF. The comparison aims to better understand the impact of cystic fibrosis and its treatment on the kidneys, as well as to develop improved methods for preventing, diagnosing, and treating kidney issues associated with CF.
