This research will implement a novel habit formation intervention among people living with hypertension and an indication of medication non-adherence to help maintain high anti-hypertensive (AH) medication adherence by leveraging the power of routines and unconsciously triggered habitual behaviors. The investigators will test whether high AH medication adherence can be maintained using contextually-cued medication adherence habits that mitigate the negative effects of declining motivation, forgetfulness, and the cognitive burden of performing repeated daily behaviors. The use of mHealth tools will help to make this a scalable and sustainable intervention approach for addressing an important healthcare issue in Arizona. Read Less

The goal of this phase 1/2 multicenter, open-label, singe arm dose escalation and expansion study is to assess the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profile of CTX-712 in patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and higher risk myelodysplastic syndromes (HR-MDS). The phase 1 part of the study consists of sequential standard 3 + 3 dose escalation, where patients will receive ascending doses of CTX-712 to determine the recommended phase 2 dose (RP2D) for further clinical development. This is followed by a confirmatory phase 1 expansion cohort where an additional approximately 10 patients will be treated with CTX-712 at the RP2D to gain further confidence in the selected dose level. After RP2D is determined, Drug-Drug-Interaction cohorts will be started. The phase 2 part of the study will commence after the RP2D has been identified and confirmed and will evaluate therapeutic activity in R/R AML or R/R HR-MDS, in addition to confirmation of the safety profile. The goal of this clinical trial is to test the effects of an expressive writing intervention for caregivers of persons with cancer. The main questions the study aims to answer are: Does participation in a group-based, videoconference-delivered expressive writing intervention improve mood and quality of life for caregivers of persons with cancer? Is greater improvement associated with writing that is more emotionally expressive or personally revealing, or with group-based sessions characterized by certain linguistic features such as greater emotionality? Is benefit greater for certain subgroups of caregivers, such as those who are younger or who identify as female in gender? Participants will be asked to join four videoconference-delivered, group-based expressive writing sessions. This will be done in groups of 4-8 caregivers and led by a trained facilitator. During each session, participants will write about their deepest thoughts and feelings about their loved one's cancer and their experiences as a caregiver. They will then discuss as a group any reactions to the writing process. Participants will be randomly assigned to either active intervention (receiving the intervention as soon as a group is formed) or waitlist control. This phase II trial studies how well radiation therapy with or without cisplatin works in treating patients with stage III-IVA squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck who have undergone surgery. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. It is not yet known if radiation therapy is more effective with or without cisplatin in treating patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. Read Less

This randomized phase III trial studies digital tomosynthesis mammography and digital mammography in screening patients for breast cancer. Screening for breast cancer with tomosynthesis mammography may be superior to digital mammography for breast cancer screening and may help reduce the need for additional imaging or treatment. This phase II/III trial compares the effect of adding chemotherapy before and after surgery versus after surgery alone (usual treatment) in treating patients with stage II-III gallbladder cancer. Chemotherapy drugs, such as gemcitabine and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving chemotherapy before surgery may make the tumor smaller; therefore, may reduce the extent of surgery. Additionally, it may make it easier for the surgeon to distinguish between normal and cancerous tissue. Giving chemotherapy after surgery may kill any remaining tumor cells. This study will determine whether giving chemotherapy before surgery increases the length of time before the cancer may return and whether it will increase a patient's life span compared to the usual approach. This phase II trial studies how well lower-dose chemotherapy plus radiation (chemoradiation) therapy works in comparison to standard-dose chemoradiation in treating patients with early-stage anal cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as mitomycin, fluorouracil, and capecitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Giving chemotherapy with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. This study may help doctors find out if lower-dose chemoradiation is as effective and has fewer side effects than standard-dose chemoradiation, which is the usual approach for treatment of this cancer type. This phase III trial compares the combination of four drugs (daratumumab, bortezomib, lenalidomide and dexamethasone) to the use of a three drug combination (daratumumab, lenalidomide and dexamethasone). Bortezomib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Chemotherapy drugs, such as lenalidomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Daratumumab is a monoclonal antibody that may interfere with the ability of cancer cells to grow and spread. Anti-inflammatory drugs, such as dexamethasone lower the body's immune response and are used with other drugs in the treatment of some types of cancer. Adding bortezomib to daratumumab, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone may be more effective in shrinking the cancer or preventing it from returning, compared to continuing on daratumumab, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone.
