The state of California currently has 36 active clinical trials seeking participants for Osteoarthritis research studies. These trials are conducted in various cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Sacramento.
Effect of Anti-inflammatory Diet in Osteoarthritis
Recruiting
In a previous exploratory study, the investigators observed an effect on disease activity outcomes of anti-inflammatory diet. The investigators also observed change in microbiome and circulating metabolites. The current study will determine whether or not the addition of anti-inflammatory diet improves the clinical outcomes in participants with Osteoarthritis, and the role of microbiome and circulating metabolites.

Genicular Artery Embolization Vs Observation for Symptomatic Knee Osteoarthritis
Recruiting
The purpose of this clinical trial is to determine whether genicular artery embolization (GAE) is an effective way to treat knee pain from osteoarthritis. Pain from arthritis is often due to underlying inflammation in the joint. The inflammation is associated with increased abnormal blood flow going to the specific area of pain. If the investigator can reduce the blood flow, the inflammation can be reduced and the pain can be controlled. The GAE procedure is an experimental procedure to decreas... Read More

Comparative Effectiveness of Particulate Versus Nonparticulate Steroid Injections for Musculoskeletal Conditions
Recruiting
This aims of this study are: To determine if particulate or non-particulate corticosteroid injections are more effective at treating pain from musculoskeletal pathologies of the hip, glenohumeral joint, biceps tendon, or subacromial/subdeltoid bursa at 2 weeks, 3 months, or 6 months. To determine if there is a significantly different side effect profile between particulate and non-particulate corticosteroids when used for hip, glenohumeral joint, biceps tendon, or subacromial/subdeltoid bursa i... Validity of AI in Treatment of the Musculoskeletal Conditions by Vifive
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the 12-week ViFive program, a vision-based artificial intelligent digital care plan for chronic knee pain. ViFive digital care plan is delivered by a physical therapy team consisting of physical therapists and a personal coach. We aim to understand the safety and efficacy of this vision artificial intelligent based home exercise program.

Pain Relief After Trapeziectomy: Ibuprofen & Acetaminophen Versus Oxycodone
Recruiting
In the US, pain management after surgery for surgical treatment of osteoarthritis at the base of the thumb typically consists of prescription opioids during the early recovery phase. Given the highly addictive nature of prescription opioids, guidelines are being evaluated by hand surgeons to reduce opioid use while still maintaining pain control after surgery. A promising approach is to use non-narcotic medication as the first line of treatment. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the ef... Read More

Fluoroscopic Versus Ultrasound Guidance for Cooled Radiofrequency Ablation of Geniculate Nerves in Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomized Control Trial
Recruiting
Cooled radiofrequency ablation (cRFA) of the knee geniculate nerves is a promising treatment option for knee osteoarthritis, but has variable efficacy. Fluoroscopy is the typical guidance of choice, but uses bony landmarks to target these nerves which have variable positions around the knee. Alternatively, ultrasound allows for targeting based on visualization of bony landmarks, the nerves, and their accompanying vascular structures, and thus may offer greater accuracy. However, there are few st... Read More

Adipose-Derived Biocellular Regenerative Therapy for Osteoarthritis
Recruiting
Use of Biocellular and cellular approaches to treatment of Osteoarthritis (OA), musculoskeletal aging processes, pain, and degenerative changes are to be studied with minimally invasive protocols, and non-pharmaceutical means to relieve OA and its associated issues. Traditional surgical interventions have not yielded convincing long-term outcomes, including total joint replacement surgeries and medical management of the supportive structures. This study is to use a person's own stem/stromal Cel... Read More
