Tart Cherry Juice as a Dietary Supplement for the Prevention of Paclitaxel-Induced Neuropathy
Recruiting
This is a single institution phase II randomized study evaluating the potential benefits of a supplement, tart cherry juice at high- versus low-doses, to prevent taxane induced peripheral neuropathy in breast and ovarian cancer patients undergoing paclitaxel chemotherapy. Eligible participants enrolled onto the study will be block randomized in a 1:1 allocation to either the tart cherry juice high-dose group (Arm 1) or the tart cherry juice low-dose group (Arm 2).

Role of TXA in Patients Undergoing Breast Free Flap Reconstruction
Recruiting
Tranexamic acid (TXA) is a synthetic, competitive lysine receptor inhibitor on plasminogen. It ultimately stabilizes the fibrin matrix, therefore used as a hemostatic agent for various indications. While there has been indications for orthopedic and trauma surgery, there is no clear data for its role in patients who are undergoing free tissue transfer. Studies have shown that patients undergoing free tissue transfer can have transfusion rates ranging from 7.2% to 34.9%, which data also showing a... Read More

Phase II Protocol of Proton Therapy for Partial Breast Irradiation in Early Stage Breast Cancer
Recruiting
The purpose of this research study is to compare the effects (good and bad) on women and their cancer using proton radiation therapy. This study is being done to see if proton radiation therapy will prove to be beneficial for women with early stage breast cancer. A clinical study is necessary to compare the results (good or bad) of proton radiation therapy.

Real-Time Assessment Of Breast Cancer Lumpectomy Specimen Margins With Nonlinear Microscopy
Recruiting
This research is studying a new investigative imaging instrument called a nonlinear microscope (NLM). A nonlinear microscope can produce images similar to an ordinary pathologist's microscope, but without first processing tissue to make slides. This study will determine if a NLM can be used to evaluate tissue during lumpectomy surgery for breast cancer in order to reduce the probability that standard pathologic examination of the specimen after the end of the operation will find close or positiv... Accurate, Rapid and Inexpensive MRI Protocol for Breast Cancer Screening
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to test an innovative MRI breast cancer screening method in women with mammographically dense breasts as well as other women with moderately increased cancer risk. MRI, combined with other methods of risk assessment, has potential to significantly improve sensitivity to cancer in dense breasts and detect cancer in all cases at a much earlier stage, with far fewer interval cancers than mammography. Previous tests of MRI sensitivity show that this screening could signi... Read More

THRIVE Study: Positive Affect Training for Endocrine Therapy Medication Adherence
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to pilot and refine an online behavioral intervention based on Positive Affect Training (PAT) that aims to increase positive emotional attitudes and decrease negative emotional attitudes toward endocrine therapy (ET, i.e., anti-hormonal medication) and to increase positive affect and decrease negative affect more generally, among post-treatment breast cancer survivors who are prescribed ET to prevent recurrence of breast cancer.

Evaluate Impact of Exercise Program on Fatigue in Breast Cancer During Chemotherapy
Recruiting
Assess feasibility of home exercise in reducing fatigue in subjects with breast cancer receiving curative intent chemotherapy. Subjects are randomized to control (no exercise) or intervention group (exercise). The PRO-CTCAE tool and FACIT Fatigue Scale are used to collect patient reported outcomes. Subjects submit data via mobile phone, tablet or computer. Assessments are weekly during chemotherapy (10-20 wks), at end of chemotherapy and 1, 3 and 6 months after chemotherapy.
