The purpose of this observational study is to find the best measures to define how well a person with eosinophilic disorder is doing. People with EoE, EoG, EoN and EoC normally undergo endoscopy and/or colonoscopy where cells are collected for microscopic analysis. Treatments are then decided based on how the cells look. We are aiming to compare different tissue components such as inflammatory cell types with clinical symptoms. We want to see if scores on standard questionnaires can give us an idea how well the person is doing. Read Less

The language outcome of children receiving cochlear implantation to address bilateral sensorineural hearing loss is more variable than that of typical hearing children. The research is focused upon development of neural predictive models based upon brain imaging to forecast language after cochlear implantation on the individual child level. The long-term goal is improving children's language by using predictive models to enable a custom "predict to prescribe" approach to intervene with more effective behavioral therapy for children at risk to develop poorer language. The investigators previously developed models for short term language outcome of English-learning implanted children. The aims of this study are to 1. Develop models able to predict long term outcome for English- learning and Spanish-learning children; and 2. To evaluate whether English-learning children predicted to achieve lower language based on the investigators' previously constructed models can demonstrate significant gains from Parent Implemented Communication Treatment (PICT). Based on data from earlier studies it appears that the drugs can be given less often then the currently approved schedule. Doctors leading this study hope to learn about a software that researchers at the University of Chicago have developed to help analyze radiographic images (different techniques for taking images that allow doctors to visualize the body's internal structures) of the prostate. Participation in this research will last about 12 months. There is a one-time MRI and 1-2 biopsies and then the investigator would like to follow the participant's progress. Read Less

The goal of this clinical trial is to test effects of the Great Life Mentoring (GLM) program on the mental health and adaptive functioning on school-age youth (ages 9-16) from low-income families who are receiving outpatient mental health services. The main questions it aims to answer are: • Does participation in the GLM program improve mental health and related outcomes among school-age youth (9- to 16-years-old) from low-income families as an adjunct to outpatient mental health services? 180 youth will be enrolled in the study and assigned randomly to either continue mental health services as usual (SAU) or to continue mental health services while also participating in GLM (SAU+GLM). Participating youth, and their parent/guardians and therapists, will be surveyed annually. Mental health services records also will be obtained with appropriate permissions. . Researchers will compare the SAU and SAU+GLM groups to see if participation in GLM has an effect on the mental health and related outcomes of study youth. Read Less

The purpose of this study is to collect and store normal and malignant tissue from patients with gastric cancer, GIST, esophageal cancer, pancreas cancer, hepatocellular cancer, biliary cancer, neuroendocrine, peritoneal mesothelioma, anal cancer and colorectal cancer, an estimated 50 to 100 of each tumor type. To collect and store blood samples from patients with gastric cancer, GIST, esophageal cancer, pancreas cancer, hepatocellular cancer, biliary cancer, neuroendocrine, peritoneal mesothelioma, anal cancer and colorectal cancer. To create a database for the collected tissue and allow access to relevant clinical information for current and future protocols. To create tissue microarrays for each gastrointestinal cancer subtype, namely, gastric cancer, GIST, esophageal cancer, pancreas cancer, hepatocellular cancer, biliary cancer, neuroendocrine, peritoneal mesothelioma, anal cancer and colorectal cancer, to facilitate future molecular studies. To grant access to Dr Kindler, Dr. Salgia, and Dr. Catenacci to this database (as it is being acquired) of the coupled patient tissue samples (normal and malignant) and relevant clinical information for the investigation of tyrosine kinases, such as Met and Ron, receptor tyrosine kinase family members, STATs, paxillin, focal adhesion proteins, cell motility/migration proteins, tyrosine/serine/threonine kinase family members, related molecules, and downstream targets implicated in the pathogenesis of GI cancers. Examples of molecular testing include evaluation of DNA mutation, alternative splice variants, protein expression and phosphorylation, and immunohistochemistry on samples. This study is for people who have multiple sclerosis, acute leukemia (in remission), or long-COVID and a Body Mass Index over 27 and may struggle with cognitive issues such as remembering information, concentrating, or making decisions that affect everyday life. By doing this study, researchers hope to learn how liraglutide (Saxenda®), a weight loss drug, affects levels of a certain disease marker in the body called Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF). We are studying the genetics of human cardiovascular and neuromuscular disease. There are many different genetic regions that have been associated with the development of cardiomyopathy. An equal number of genetic regions have been associated with muscular dystrophy and there is overlap because some of the identical genes, when mutated, produce both cardiomyopathy and muscular dystrophy. We are working to identify genes and gene mutations associated with cardiomyopathy, arrhythmias and muscular dystrophy. We propose to screen these samples for mutations in genes known to be involved in these disorders. Read Less

The goal of this clinical trial is to test a culturally tailored health promotion intervention for children with IDD and their families. First investigators will conduct a single group design pilot study of a health promotion intervention, followed by second, a small-scale randomized control trial (RCT). of the intervention with Latino parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in the Chicago, Illinois and Austin, Texas areas. The following research questions will be addressed: Question 1: What is the appropriate content, dosage, and delivery method of the intervention? Question 2: What is the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention? Question 3: Do participants improve between pre and post-test on outcome measures both in the one group design and compared to the control group in the RCT? Parents will receive 10 weekly remote sessions on health promotion content delivered by parent mentors called promotoras. Parents and children will attend 3 multi-family group workshops in-person that will provide demonstrations and interactive activities. Read Less
