Safety Trial of Antimicrobial Therapy and Precision Radiation Therapy in Patients With Oligoprogressive Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Recruiting
The first phase of this study was an open label, randomized pilot study. Enrollment for this phase is now complete.
The second phase is a single arm phase 1 safety study. Patients planned to undergo precision hypofractionated radiation to all sites of oligoprogression will receive vancomycin for 1 week before RT and for 1 month after start of RT, and asked to provide stool and blood samples as outlined in the Safety Trial study table.

Evaluating Home Testing Devices for the Management of Glaucoma
Recruiting
With the advancement in technology we have the opportunity of performing the glaucoma testing at home to monitor the disease. The purpose of this study is evaluating the feasibility and patient acceptance of home testing with head mounted perimetry; detection of progression with head mounted perimetry vs office based perimetry; and monitoring the eye pressure measured by patients at home using a portable tonometer.

Cemiplimab for the Treatment of Locally Advanced Head and Neck Basal Cell Carcinoma Before Surgery
Recruiting
This phase II trial tests how well cemiplimab works in treating basal cell carcinoma of the head and neck that has spread to nearby tissue or lymph nodes (locally advanced) before surgery (neoadjuvant). Cemiplimab is a human recombinant monoclonal IgG4 antibody that may allow the body's immune system to work against tumor cells. Giving cemiplimab before surgery may make the tumor smaller and make it easier to remove.

Effects of Sitagliptin in Individuals With Genetically Decreased DPP4
Recruiting
This is a pilot clinical trial to test the hypothesis that during sitagliptin (DPP4 inhibitor), individuals heterozygous for DPP4 loss of function variants will have a reduction in DPP4 activity and antigen, lower glucose after a mixed meal, and higher levels of intact DPP4 substrates compared to during placebo and compared to matched controls.

tACS to Enhance Language Abilities
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to see if transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) can be used to enhance language abilities in people with post-stroke aphasia. Participants will receive real and sham tACS in conjunction with various language tests. Researchers will compare the post-stroke aphasia group with aged matched controls to see if brain response to tACS differs between groups.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Biomarkers for Muscular Dystrophy
Recruiting
The purpose of this research study is to determine the potential of magnetic resonance imaging, spectroscopy, and whole body imaging to monitor disease progression and to serve as an objective outcome measure for clinical trials in Muscular Dystrophy (MD).
The investigators will compare the muscles of ambulatory or non-ambulatory boys/men with DMD with muscles of healthy individuals of the same age and monitor disease progression in those with DMD over a 5-10 year period. The amount of muscle d... Read More

A Partnered Evaluation to Improve the Identification and Management of Functional Impairment and Frailty Among Older Veterans in Primary Care Settings
Recruiting
Maintaining functional status, or the ability to perform daily activities, is central to older adults' quality of life, health, and ability to remain independent. Identifying functional impairments is essential for clinicians to provide optimal care to older adults, and on a population level, understanding function can help anticipate service needs. Yet uptake of standardized measurement of functional status into patient care has been slow and inconsistent due to the burden posed by current tool... Read More

Decoding and Modulating Affective Brain States
Recruiting
Generating personalized brain signatures of negative emotion along with personalized brain stimulation protocols to disrupt these patterns. We plan to use fMRI and muscle activity data to determine negative affect maps for each participant. We will then try a variety of patterned repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation sequences while recording fMRI which will be the basis of two sessions of 3-day individualized brain stimulation designed to reduce negative affect.

Li-Fraumeni Syndrome/TP53 Biobank
Recruiting
Li-Fraumeni Syndrome (LFS) and Li-Fraumeni-like (LFL) Syndrome are cancer predisposition syndromes due to germline aberrations in the TP53 gene. Patients with classical LFS have a lifetime malignancy risk between 80-90%, with 21% of those cancers occurring by the age of 15 years. There are established guidelines for screening patients with LFS that have led to earlier detection and treatment of cancer in this population. There are a number of important issues facing patients identified to have g... Read More
