Cervical spine injuries (CSI) are serious, but rare events in children. Spinal precautions (rigid cervical collar and immobilization on a longboard) in the prehospital setting may be beneficial for children with CSI, but are poorly studied. In contrast, spinal precautions for pediatric trauma patients without CSI are common and may be associated with harm. Spinal precautions result in well-documented adverse physical and physiological sequelae. Of substantial concern is that the mere presence of prehospital spinal precautions may lead to a cascade of events that results in the increased use of inappropriate radiographic testing in the emergency department (ED) to evaluate children for CSI and thus an unnecessary, increased exposure to ionizing radiation and lifetime risk of cancer. Most children who receive spinal precautions and/or are imaged for potential CSI, and particularly those imaged with computed tomography (CT), are exposed to potential harm with no demonstrable benefit. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a Pediatric CSI Risk Assessment Tool that can be used in the prehospital and ED settings to reduce the number of children who receive prehospital spinal precautions inappropriately and are imaged unnecessarily while identifying all children who are truly at risk for CSI. The changing food environment, with increasingly abundant ultra-processed food (UPF) options, may directly contribute to rising rates of obesity, though it is unknown which ingredients in UPF elevate their reinforcing nature in a way that may lead to overconsumption. The proposed study is the first to systematically examine differences in the rewarding characteristics of and physiological and metabolic responses to UPFs that are high in fat, refined carbohydrates (like sugar), or both. Understanding the biobehavioral underpinnings that enhance the reinforcing potential of ingredients in UPF (e.g., fat vs. refined carbohydrates) can inform novel intervention targets for the treatment of overeating and obesity. Hypothermic circulatory arrest is an important surgical technique, allowing complex aortic surgeries to be performed safely. Hypothermic circulatory arrest provides protection to cerebral and visceral organs, but may result in longer cardiopulmonary bypass times during surgery, increased risks of bleeding, inflammation, and neuronal injury. To manage these consequences, a trend towards warmer core body temperatures during circulatory arrest has emerged. This trial will randomize patients to either mild (32°C) or moderate (26°C) hypothermia during aortic hemiarch surgery to determine if mild hypothermia reduces the length of cardiopulmonary bypass time and other key measures of morbidity and mortality. Moesin deficiency was initially described in 7 male participants aged 4 to 69 years and is characterized by lymphopenia of the 3 lineages and moderate neutropenia. Genetically, 6 out of 7 participants had the same missense mutation in the moesin gene located on the X chromosome. The 7th patient has a mutation leading to the premature introduction of a STOP codon into the protein.Clinically the 7 participants with X-linked moesin-associated immunodeficiency all presented with recurrent bacterial infections of the respiratory, gastrointestinal or urinary tracts, and some had severe varicella.Therapeutically, in the absence of a molecular diagnosis and due to his SCID-like phenotype, one patient was treated with geno-identical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation . The remaining are untreated or treated with immunoglobulin substitution and/or prophylactic antibiotics. Since this study, the moesin gene has been integrated into DNA chips used for the molecular diagnosis of immune deficiencies in several countries. Physicians in Canada, the United States, Japan, South Africa and Europe have contacted us with a total of 16 known participants to date. Because of their very low severe, uncontrolled CMV infection and the absence of treatment recommendations, two 2 American participants were treated with allogeneic transplantation with severe post-transplant complications (1), and one of the participants died as a result of the transplant. Management of XMAID participants therefore varies widely from country to country, depending on age at diagnosis and clinical picture. It ranges from no treatment treatment (associated with recurrent infections and skin manifestations), IgIv substitution and/or antibiotic prophylaxis antibiotic prophylaxis, with low toxicity and apparent efficacy, and allogeneic transplantation, with all the risks risks involved (graft-related toxicity, graft versus host, disease, rejection, risk of infection). The purpose of this study is to develop a protocol for biofilms disinfection with a FDA cleared, clinically approved and commercially available Er,Cr:YSGG laser treatments. This protocol will be testing local single topical application of Lasers within the canal system in patients going through routine endodontic treatment, evaluate its potential as anti-biofilm treatment and compare it to other currently used antibacterial protocols. Urea cycle disorders (UCD) are a group of rare inherited metabolism disorders. Infants and children with UCD commonly experience episodes of vomiting, lethargy, and coma. The purpose of this study is to perform a long-term analysis of a large group of individuals with various UCDs. AB-101 is an off-the shelf, allogeneic cell product made of "natural killer" cells, also called NK cells. White blood cells are part of the immune system and NK cells are a type of white blood cell that are known to kill cancer cells. This clinical trial will enroll patients with relapsed/refractory non-Hodgkin lymphoma of B-cell origin and is conducted in two phases. The primary objectives of Phase 1 are as follows: 1) to evaluate the safety of AB-101 given alone or in combination with rituximab (including the DLBCL specific cohort) or in combination with bendamustine and rituximab; 2) to evaluate the potential clinical activity of AB-101 when given in combination with rituximab or in combination with bendamustine and rituximab (combination cohorts only); and 3) to identify the recommended Phase 2 dose (RP2D). The primary objective of Phase 2 is to determine whether AB-101 in combination with rituximab or in combination with bendamustine and rituximab has anti-cancer activity in patients. Patients will be assigned to receive either AB-101 alone as monotherapy, in combination with rituximab (including DLBCL specific cohort) or in combination with bendamustine and rituximab. All patients will receive at least 1 treatment cycle of AB-101, followed by scheduled assessments of overall health and tumor response. Patients receiving AB-101 in combination with rituximab may receive up to 3 additional cycles of treatment. Patients receiving AB-101 in combination with bendamustine and rituximab may receive up to 5 additional cycles of treatment.
