These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Salt Lake City, Murray, Ogden and West Jordan. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
Heat Therapy and Muscle Function Study
Recruiting
Exercise tolerance decreases with age and a sedentary lifestyle. Muscle critical power (CP), is a sensitive measure of exercise tolerance that is more even more relevant to and predictive of endurance performance than VO2max. While recent evidence indicates that CP and muscle function decrease with aging, the cause of this decrease in CP and the best way to mitigate the decrease in CP are unknown. This study will: Measure knee extensor CP in young and old individuals and determine the extent... Read More

Proton or Photon RT for Retroperitoneal Sarcomas
Recruiting
This research study is a Phase I clinical trial. Phase I clinical trials test the safety of an investigational intervention. Phase I studies also try to define the appropriate dose of the investigational therapy to use for further studies. "Investigational" means that the intervention is still being studied and that research doctors are trying to find out more about it. Retroperitoneal sarcomas are soft tissue tumors located at the far back of the abdomen. Typically, patients with retroperitone... Read More

The Genetics of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to determine the genetic basis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). We will first look for genes in the Icelandic population, where large family trees are known and it is easier to search for genes. We will then determine whether these same genes are important in U.S. PCOS patients.

International Pachyonychia Congenita Research Registry
Recruiting
International Pachyonychia Congenita Research Registry (IPCRR) is a patient registry for those suffering from Pachyonychia Congenita (PC). PC is an ultra-rare extremely painful skin disorder that causes painful blisters and callus on feet and sometimes hands, thickened nails, cysts and other features. The IPCRR consists of a questionnaire, patient photos, optional physician notes from telephone consultation to validate questionnaire and free genetic testing.
