Pain Paid Clinical Trials in Florida

This is a 2-part, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, Phase 2 study to evaluate the safety, tolerability, efficacy, and PK of RTA 901 in qualified subjects with DPNP. Each study part will be randomized into 3 treatment arms; 2 different doses of RTA 901 and a Placebo. The doses of RTA 901 in Part 2 will be selected based on the Exposure-Response (E-R) analyses of data from Part 1. A total of 384 subjects will be randomized in this study. Each part will have 192 subjects, with 64 subjects randomized 1:1:1 to each treatment arm. The duration of each part of the study will be approximately 20 weeks, including a Screening Period of up to 2 weeks, a Run-in Period of 2 weeks, a Treatment Period of 12 weeks, and a Follow-up Period of 4 weeks. The goal of this observational trial is to compare the health history and motion capabilities of participants with low back pain disorders to participants with healthy spines. The main question[s] it aims to answer are to: Primary outcomes of this research effort include the development of composite measures or digital biomarkers to track functional recovery over time and predict duty or work status outcomes (return-to-full duty/work, limited duty/work restrictions or medical discharge/long-term disability). Secondary outcomes of this research effort include characterization of motion assessment utility to predict reinjury risk and evaluate intervention effectiveness. In addition, exploratively, the investigators will determine biopsychosocial profiles of low back pain, and neck pain military populations to identify low back and neck pain phenotypes. Participants will complete questionnaires and wear a motion monitor that will assess the participant's back and/or neck. This session will be approximately 40-70 minutes. The purpose of this research is to examine changes in pain sensitivity during high fatigue exercise, low fatigue exercise, and no treatment in individuals who are currently experiencing knee pain. Dosing dynamic resistance exercise intensity based on fatigue level is a novel, clinically feasible method. Dynamic resistance exercise at a high intensity (75% 1 repetition maximum (RM)) produces significant hypoalgesia at local sites compared to no treatment; however, dosing intensity based on 1RM can be challenging to implement in the clinical setting. Fatiguing endurance tasks produce local and systemic reductions in pressure pain threshold with low intensity isometric exercise completed until failure resulting in the largest exercise induced hypoalgesia effects. Some research suggests that administration of oxytocin with oxycodone may reduce its abuse liability and improve its ability to reduce pain. In a 6-session laboratory study, the investigators will be evaluating the effects of oxycodone and oxytocin (combined and separately, across sessions) on experimentally-induced pain, subjective effects, decision-making, and activation of different neural substrates. The central objective of research is to examine the feasibility and acceptability of an 8-month single-arm behavioral intervention (i.e., EMPOWER) among overweight/obese middle-aged and older adults with moderate-to-high impact low back pain. Intervention content will focus on standard behavioral weight loss treatment and cognitive-behavioral pain coping therapy with a focus on environmental reward and positive affect. Read Less

This is a multicenter randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 2 study to evaluate efficacy, safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and target engagement of GSK3858279 in adult participants with chronic Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathic Pain (DPNP). The objective of this study is to compare a novel 6-week strength training rehabilitation incorporating power exercises (STRIPE) program to a standard of care (SOC) program on short-term and long-term pain, subjective function, patellofemoral pain recurrence rates, and secondary outcomes (hip abduction and extension rate of torque development and single-leg squat kinematics). We hypothesize that participants with patellofemoral pain who complete the STRIPE program will have 1) decreased pain, 2) improved subjective function, 3) reduced patellofemoral pain recurrence rates, 4a) improved hip abduction/extension rate of torque development, and 4b) decreased hip adduction and pelvic drop during a single leg squat compared to participants who complete a SOC rehabilitation program.
