Photobiomodulation for Management of Temporomandibular Disorder Pain
Recruiting
Photobiomodulation (PBM), is FDA-approved for temporary relief of muscle and joint pain, but there is no indication for TMD. Our goal in this study is to conduct a clinical trial of multimodal PBM for TMD pain. This study will be a double-blind, sham-controlled, randomized trial testing the efficacy of PBM for pain related to TMD.

Opioid-Sparing and Pain-Reducing Properties of Syntocinon: A Dose-Effect Determination
Recruiting
Some research suggests that administration of oxytocin with oxycodone may reduce its abuse liability and improve its ability to reduce pain. In a 6-session laboratory study, the investigators will be evaluating the effects of oxycodone and oxytocin (combined and separately, across sessions) on experimentally-induced pain, subjective effects, decision-making, and activation of different neural substrates.

The Potential of Oxytocin to Reduce Opioid Abuse Liability and Pain Among Older Adults

Immediate Effect of Dry Needling of the Lumbar Multifidus on Pain Sensitivity In A Healthy Population
Recruiting
The goal of this interventional study is to test the effects of trigger point dry needling to the low back in a healthy population. The main aims are to answer: Is there a change in sensitivity to experimental pain after trigger point dry needling To determine if there is an association between demographic and psychological factors and immediate changes in pain sensitivity after receiving trigger point dry needling. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups a dry needling gro... Read More

Mechanisms and Modulation of Pain Modulatory Capacity
Recruiting
This project proposes to understand the sources of pain variability, and demonstrate that pain variability represents fluctuation in natural pain management. The project further proposes to determine if endogenous capacity to modulate pain can be trained to maximize their body's ability to manage pain, much as the way in which athletic performance can be trained.
