The goal of this clinical trial is to test effects of the Great Life Mentoring (GLM) program on the mental health and adaptive functioning on school-age youth (ages 9-16) from low-income families who are receiving outpatient mental health services. The main questions it aims to answer are: • Does participation in the GLM program improve mental health and related outcomes among school-age youth (9- to 16-years-old) from low-income families as an adjunct to outpatient mental health services? 180 youth will be enrolled in the study and assigned randomly to either continue mental health services as usual (SAU) or to continue mental health services while also participating in GLM (SAU+GLM). Participating youth, and their parent/guardians and therapists, will be surveyed annually. Mental health services records also will be obtained with appropriate permissions. . Researchers will compare the SAU and SAU+GLM groups to see if participation in GLM has an effect on the mental health and related outcomes of study youth. Read Less

The purpose of this study is to collect and store normal and malignant tissue from patients with gastric cancer, GIST, esophageal cancer, pancreas cancer, hepatocellular cancer, biliary cancer, neuroendocrine, peritoneal mesothelioma, anal cancer and colorectal cancer, an estimated 50 to 100 of each tumor type. To collect and store blood samples from patients with gastric cancer, GIST, esophageal cancer, pancreas cancer, hepatocellular cancer, biliary cancer, neuroendocrine, peritoneal mesothelioma, anal cancer and colorectal cancer. To create a database for the collected tissue and allow access to relevant clinical information for current and future protocols. To create tissue microarrays for each gastrointestinal cancer subtype, namely, gastric cancer, GIST, esophageal cancer, pancreas cancer, hepatocellular cancer, biliary cancer, neuroendocrine, peritoneal mesothelioma, anal cancer and colorectal cancer, to facilitate future molecular studies. To grant access to Dr Kindler, Dr. Salgia, and Dr. Catenacci to this database (as it is being acquired) of the coupled patient tissue samples (normal and malignant) and relevant clinical information for the investigation of tyrosine kinases, such as Met and Ron, receptor tyrosine kinase family members, STATs, paxillin, focal adhesion proteins, cell motility/migration proteins, tyrosine/serine/threonine kinase family members, related molecules, and downstream targets implicated in the pathogenesis of GI cancers. Examples of molecular testing include evaluation of DNA mutation, alternative splice variants, protein expression and phosphorylation, and immunohistochemistry on samples. This study is for people who have multiple sclerosis, acute leukemia (in remission), or long-COVID and a Body Mass Index over 27 and may struggle with cognitive issues such as remembering information, concentrating, or making decisions that affect everyday life. By doing this study, researchers hope to learn how liraglutide (Saxenda®), a weight loss drug, affects levels of a certain disease marker in the body called Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF). The purpose of the present study is to utilize Multiphase Optimization Strategy (MOST)1 to test four social support and mindfulness components (e-coaching, buddy, general mindfulness training, and MVPA-specific mindfulness training) in a 12-week mHealth moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity (MVPA) intervention in a sample of young adult cancer survivors (YACS), to improve quality of life (QOL) and decrease adverse effects and symptom burden. PRIMARY AIM To identify which components from four mHealth components under consideration for inclusion meaningfully contribute to improvements in MVPA at 12 and 24 weeks SECONDARY AIM To examine how changes in MVPA, as a result of Opt2Move components, may influence additional health behaviors and outcomes including: a) symptom burden (i.e. fatigue, depression, anxiety); b) time spent in other activity intensities (i.e. light, sedentary time); and c) sleep duration and quality THIRD AIM To examine potential mediators (i.e. adherence, psychosocial factors such as post-traumatic growth, self-compassion, self-efficacy, and goal setting) and moderators (cancer type, age, gender) of the four intervention components on MVPA. We are studying the genetics of human cardiovascular and neuromuscular disease. There are many different genetic regions that have been associated with the development of cardiomyopathy. An equal number of genetic regions have been associated with muscular dystrophy and there is overlap because some of the identical genes, when mutated, produce both cardiomyopathy and muscular dystrophy. We are working to identify genes and gene mutations associated with cardiomyopathy, arrhythmias and muscular dystrophy. We propose to screen these samples for mutations in genes known to be involved in these disorders. Read Less

This is a multicenter, randomized, placebo controlled study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ABX464 given at 25 or 50 mg QD in inducing clinical remission in subjects with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis who have inadequate response, no response, a loss of response, or an intolerance to either conventional therapies \[corticosteroids, immunosuppressant (i.e. azathioprine, 6-mercaptopurine, methotrexate)\] and/or advanced therapies \[biologics (TNF inhibitors, anti-integrins, anti-IL-23), and/or S1P receptor modulators, and/or JAK inhibitors\]. The goal of this clinical trial is to test a culturally tailored health promotion intervention for children with IDD and their families. First investigators will conduct a single group design pilot study of a health promotion intervention, followed by second, a small-scale randomized control trial (RCT). of the intervention with Latino parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in the Chicago, Illinois and Austin, Texas areas. The following research questions will be addressed: Question 1: What is the appropriate content, dosage, and delivery method of the intervention? Question 2: What is the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention? Question 3: Do participants improve between pre and post-test on outcome measures both in the one group design and compared to the control group in the RCT? Parents will receive 10 weekly remote sessions on health promotion content delivered by parent mentors called promotoras. This is a prospective observational study looking at gait-cadence in older adults who are scheduled to have major abdominal surgery at the University of Chicago. The objective of the study is to evaluate whether gait-cadence, as measured from a patient's mobile device at-home, can provide an accurate assessment of a patient's functional status prior to major abdominal surgery and identify patients at risk of poor functional outcomes. The overall objective of this proposal is to test an interdisciplinary intervention to support the transition to oral feeding for children with feeding tubes and tracheostomies. The investigators' model which combines in-home clinical assessments with virtual therapies may maximize the impact of expert interventionists. The investigators' central hypothesis is that children with feeding tubes and tracheostomies will have greater success than a control group when enrolled in a hybrid in-person/virtual intervention including: (1) a coordinated feeding team with an occupational therapist, speech/language pathologist, and registered dietitian; (2) family liaison study coordinators who are poised to support the family through personal experience; (3) a project leader who is a Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician with expertise in children with tracheostomies. The overall objective of this proposal is to test this intervention to increase oral feeding in children with feeding tubes and tracheostomies. To pursue this objective, the investigators propose the following aims: Specific Aim 1: Children enrolled in the intervention group will have improved caregiver self-efficacy and reduced worry related to feeding as determined by The Feeding and Swallowing Impact Survey at the end of a 1-year intervention. Specific Aim 2: Children enrolled in the intervention group will have increased oral vs. tube-fed calories and reduced dependence on feeding tubes as determined by detailed dietary histories and The Children's Eating and Drinking Activity Scale (CEDAS) at the end of a 1-year intervention. The investigators' intervention will determine if a tertiary center of expertise can use a combination of home assessments and virtual interventions to address critical feeding needs for children with tracheostomies. Future clinicians could refer patients to the investigators' center instead of relying on community therapists, who rarely exist. The weekly feeding group sessions as well as the administration of the therapies in a virtual format are research-related. While the therapy techniques implemented during the study are standard of care and within the practice parameters of the practitioners involved, the use of them in a virtual format are novel and should be considered research-related. This is a multicenter, open-label, Phase 1/2a dose escalation and expansion study of orally administered emavusertib (CA-4948) monotherapy in adult patients with AML or higher- risk Myelodysplastic Syndrome (hrMDS). Patients enrolling in the Phase 1 dose escalation of the study must meet one of the following criteria prior to consenting to the study: * Relapse/refractory (R/R) AML with FMS-like tyrosine kinase-3 (FLT3) mutations who have been previously treated with a FLT3 inhibitor * R/R AML with spliceosome mutations of splicing factor 3B subunit 1 (SF3B1) or U2AF1 * R/R hrMDS with spliceosome mutations of SF3B1 or U2 small nuclear RNA auxiliary factor 1 (U2AF1) * Number of pretreatments: 1 or 2 The Phase 2a Dose Expansion will be in 3 Cohorts of patients: 1. R/R AML with FLT3 mutations who have been previously treated with a FLT3 inhibitor; 2. R/R AML with spliceosome mutations of SF3B1 or U2AF1; and 3. R/R hrMDS (Revised International Prognostic Scoring System \[IPSS-R\] score \> 3.5) with spliceosome mutations of SF3B1 or U2AF1. All patients above have had ≤ 2 lines of prior systemic anticancer treatment. In previous versions of this protocol there was a Phase 1b portion of the study, in which patients with AML or hrMDS received CA-4948 in combination with venetoclax. The goal of this randomized prospective interventional study is to determine if serial bedside video calls w/audio feature to NICU parents in addition to the routine phone and/or bedside updates can reduce parental stress level. The main question it aims to answer is if the impact of audio-visual calls to nicu parents can improve parent-infant relationship in the form of reduced parental anxiety/stress level. Participants will be parents of infants admitted to NICU for more than seven (7) days. Parents in Group A will receive serial video call communication, 2-3 days a week in addition to the daily phone and/or bedside updates. Parents in Group B will receive daily phone and/or bedside updates per our NICU routine. Parents will complete a series of questionnaires (PSS-NICU, STAI Y-1 \& 2 and MSPSS) at 3 designated periods during an 8-week time frame. Researchers will compare Group A (intervention group) and Group B (control group) to see if there is any difference in the stress levels in relation to the intervention (serial video calls) at the end of the study time frame.
