Impact of Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Knee Osteoarthritis
Recruiting
Many patients with osteoarthritis of the knee fail non-operative measures and elect to have knee arthroplasty to improve their quality of life. If successful, intra-articular mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) injections into the knee may offer another viable non-operative treatment modality. Additionally, this modality may have reparative or regenerative potential, which could lead to the first treatment for osteoarthritis that treats the underlying disease as opposed to symptomatic control.

Brain Connectivity Changes With Spinal Cord Stimulation and Treatment of Chronic Pain: A Resting State NIRS/EEG Study
Recruiting
This study aims to assess how use of spinal cord stimulation for the treatment of chronic pain impacts brain structure and function. The investigators will use a non-invasive neuroimaging technique called resting state Near Infrared Spectroscopy and Electroencephalography (rs-fNIRS/EEG). The investigators will enroll Veterans who are currently receiving care at the Medical Center and who are either long term users of SCS for the treatment of their chronic pain or being evaluated for use of SCS t... Impact of 4PCP on Practitioner and Patient Outcomes
Recruiting
Reducing opioid prescribing and improving outcomes in patients with chronic pain would benefit our nation. Neither addiction nor chronic pain spares any race, gender, or particular socio-economic status. This study is investigating a potentially inexpensive way of providing a previously costly service (the intensive chronic pain rehabilitation program), which is why insurers stopped covering it. Although it is unusual for an application from an academic institution to include a startup company (... Read More

Pain Avoidance Behavior and Its Relation to Risk for Opioid Use in Chronic Pain Patients
Recruiting
This study is designed to find behavioral and neurophysiological correlates of pain avoidance behavior among chronic pain patients, controlling for risk for opioid use disorder. Further, traits and risk factors that contribute to pain avoidance behavior will be investigated. The knowledge gained will broaden the current understanding of mechanisms involved in pain avoidance behavior in chronic pain patients, and help devise novel interventions.

Myofascial Massage for Pain and Immobility Following Breast Cancer Surgery
Recruiting
About 25-50% of women who undergo breast cancer surgery develop persistent chest wall pain and shoulder mobility limitations following surgery. The pain and mobility limitations adversely affect quality of life, sleep, and body image. Unfortunately, current treatments for pain and mobility limitations have variable efficacy. Based on a review of relevant pre-, intra-, and post-operative factors, investigators reasoned that myofascial massage may address contributors to pain and mobility limitati... Read More

Peripheral Nerve Stimulation(PNS) for Subacromial Impingement Syndrome(SIS)
Recruiting
Shoulder pain accounts for 16% of all musculoskeletal complaints in the healthy adult population. Subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS) is the most common cause of shoulder pain. Many patients with chronic pain from subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS) will fail treatment efforts and have longstanding pain. This project will evaluate the efficacy of a novel approach to treatment, percutaneous peripheral nerve stimulation, for participants with chronic shoulder pain due to subacromial impingem...
