Crisis Response Planning is an efficacious, one-session intervention that increases positive affect, decreases negative affect and psychiatric hospitalizations, and reduces suicide attempts by 76% among Servicemembers. Crisis Response Planning is hypothesized to reduce suicidality by identifying a variety of personalized strategies that are designed to strengthen and/or promote emotion regulation processes.Research in nonmilitary samples suggests the effectiveness of emotion regulation strategies varies across situations. The applicability of these findings to suicidality among Servicemembers is unknown. Improved understanding of what strategies work under which circumstances and for whom will significantly advance our ability to prevent suicide among Servicemembers. Hypotheses include: 1. Use of self-management strategies, thinking about reasons for living, and seeking social support at time t will be associated with significant reductions in suicidal ideation at time t+1. 2. Use of distraction, reappraisal, and interpersonal emotion regulation strategies at time t will be associated with significant reductions in suicidal ideation at time t+1. 3. Affect intensity and social context will significantly moderate the time-lagged effects of Crisis Response Planning and emotion regulation strategy use on suicidal ideation. 4. Distinct profiles of demographic (e.g., gender, age), historical (e.g., prior suicide attempts), and psychological characteristics (e.g., emotion dysregulation, symptom severity) will predict who experiences a decrease in suicidal ideation following the use of Crisis Response Planning and emotion regulation strategies. 5. (Exploratory): Individuals who utilize their Crisis Response Planning more frequently and perceive Crisis Response Planning as more effective will be more likely to engage in mental health treatment at follow-up. This is a prospective natural history study of CIPN in approximately 200 participants receiving taxanes (paclitaxel, docetaxel) for breast cancer, bortezomib for multiple myeloma, oxaliplatin-based regimens for colorectal cancer, or vincristine for lymphoma.. Demographic data, medical history, electronic PROs, ClinROs blood biomarkers including NF-L, PGx DNA analyses and Bedside-QST will be assessed at Baseline. The Observation Period will initiate with the first dose of chemotherapy and conclude with the last dose of chemotherapy. During the Observation Period, participants will be evaluated for the development of CIPN using PROs and ClinROs. Blood biomarkers and Bedside-QST will be measured at various timepoints corresponding with treatment regimen schedules throughout the observation period. The Post Chemotherapy Follow-up Period will begin with the first visit after the last dose of chemotherapy and conclude 6 months after the last dose of chemotherapy. During the Post Chemotherapy Follow-up Period, participants will be evaluated for CIPN using PROs and ClinROs. Blood biomarkers and Bedside-QST will also be measured at the beginning and at the end of the Post-Chemotherapy Follow-up Period. PROs will be assessed electronically on a monthly basis. Read Less

Investigators will enroll 320 patients who will undergo non-cardiac surgery, receive supplemental oxygen via face mask, and will be on a continuous pulse oximetry monitor in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The enrollment criteria were adapted from a previous study that showed SpO2 values seriously underestimated the severity of post-operative hypoxemia in patients with and without specific risk factors for hypoxemia. Research personnel will screen and ensure that each subject meets the enrollment criteria, and the informed consent is properly executed. Upon arrival to the PACU, each subject will be fitted with oxygen mask containing the Linshom sensor, which will be connected to a Linshom monitor for data collection. A side stream capnography line will be connected to the same face mask and the capnography data will be collected on the Zoe Medical 740 SELECT™ monitor. Additionally, two pulse oximeters will be applied to the same hand (non- NIBP arm), one of which will be connected to a hospital monitor (SoC) and the other to a Zoe Medical 740 SELECT™ monitor. The Linshom and 740 SELECT™ monitors will collect data once every second. Research personnel will then initiate the Linshom CPRM baseline mode and begin recording any clinical intervention (e.g., medications, oxygen delivery change, and stimulation upon detection of changes in patient's condition) that is performed by the PACU staff, paying close attention to, and recording of time at which those interventions occurred. Data collection will be performed throughout the subject's entire PACU stay. The CPRM data collection will be performed passively while the patient is monitored via SoC and will not interfere with clinical interventions that may take place during the data collection. Clinical staff in the PACU will be blinded to the Linshom CPRM data as well as pulse oximetry (non-SOC monitor) and capnography data collected. Read Less

Hypothermic circulatory arrest is an important surgical technique, allowing complex aortic surgeries to be performed safely. Hypothermic circulatory arrest provides protection to cerebral and visceral organs, but may result in longer cardiopulmonary bypass times during surgery, increased risks of bleeding, inflammation, and neuronal injury. To manage these consequences, a trend towards warmer core body temperatures during circulatory arrest has emerged. This trial will randomize patients to either mild (32°C) or moderate (26°C) hypothermia during aortic hemiarch surgery to determine if mild hypothermia reduces the length of cardiopulmonary bypass time and other key measures of morbidity and mortality.
