Improving Neurotrauma by Depolarization Inhibition With Combination Therapy (INDICT)
Recruiting
This study is a randomized Phase 2 trial to determine the feasibility of real-time electrocorticographic monitoring of spreading depolarizations (SD) to guide implementation of a tier-based protocol of intensive care therapies, aimed at SD suppression, for the management of patients who have undergone acute operative treatment of severe traumatic brain injury.

Setting Families on a Positive Path to Recovery After Pediatric TBI: Road-to-Recovery
Recruiting
This study has two main goals: 1) to refine and enhance the R2R-TBI intervention; and 2) to examine the efficacy of the R2R-TBI intervention in a randomized control trial. To achieve the second goal, we will employ a between-groups randomized treatment design with repeated measures at baseline, one-month post-randomization, and at a six-month follow-up. The two conditions will be: a) usual medical care plus access to internet resources regarding pediatric brain injury (Internet Resources Compari... Read More

Hyperpolarized 13C-pyruvate Metabolic MRI With Traumatic Brain Injury
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to examine the safety and feasibility of using hyperpolarized metabolic MRI to study early brain metabolism changes in subjects presenting with head injury and suspected non-penetrating traumatic brain injury (TBI). This study will also compare HP pyruvate MRI-derived metrics in TBI patients with healthy subjects as well as Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) patients to better understand if metabolic Magnetic resonance imaging scan (MRI) can improve our ability to diagnos... Neurologic Stem Cell Treatment Study
Recruiting
This is a human clinical study involving the isolation of autologous bone marrow derived stem cells (BMSC) and transfer to the vascular system and inferior 1/3 of the nasal passages in order to determine if such a treatment will provide improvement in neurologic function for patients with certain neurologic conditions. http://mdstemcells.com/nest/

Autologous Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells for Chronic Traumatic Brain Injury
Recruiting
The global objective of this study is to establish the safety and investigate the potential treatment effect of an intravenous infusion of HB-adMSCs (Hope Biosciences adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells) on brain structure, neurocognitive/functional outcomes, and neuroinflammation after traumatic brain injury.

High Intensity Exercise and Improving Physical Activity Among People With Neurologic Dysfunction
Recruiting
The Hawks in Motion (HIM) High Intensity Exercise program is designed to implement the American Physical Therapy Clinical Practice Guidelines and American College of Sports Medicine recommendations for exercise for people with neurologic disability. Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students administer the HIM High Intensity Exercise Program. A prior study evaluated the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of the HIM High Intensity Exercise Program and found it feasible, safe, and effective for 30 p... Read More

Seizure Prevention in Traumatic Brain Injury With Levetiracetam and Lacosamide
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to assess the incidence of early post-traumatic seizures. The study will also assess the benefit of lacosamide compared to levetiracetam in regards to agitation and behavioral adverse effects in patients with moderate to severe traumatic brain injury requiring seizure prophylaxis.

University of Colorado - Restoring Efficient Sleep After TBI
Recruiting
Sleep disturbance is a common condition following traumatic brain injury (TBI) and impairs recovery and quality of life. While efficacious interventions exist many are not accessible to all patients due to a variety of factors (e.g., rurality, access to providers). Further, many of the available treatments have not been validated for individuals with moderate/severe TBI. The proposed study will evaluate a guided computerized version of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (cCBT-I) against e... Read More

Study to Assess the Safety of Amantadine Hydrochloride (HCl) Intravenous (IV) Solution (MR-301) in Patients With Severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
Recruiting
The main goal of this clinical trial is to check if the treatment is safe and well-tolerated. Researchers will compare the MR-301 active drug group with the placebo group to evaluate the safety and tolerability of the drug. Other measurements include assessing the patient's overall outcome, neurological responses, time spent in the intensive care unit, time in the hospital, and mortality. Participants will receive either MR-301 BID IV dosing or a matching placebo for a total of 3 weeks.
