Alabama Clinical Trials
A listing of Alabama clinical trials actively recruiting patient volunteers.
Found in the southeastern United States, people love exploring Alabama for its 1,500 miles of inland waterways. Known as "The Heart of Dixie" and "The Cotton State," the biggest cities include Montgomery, Birmingham, Auburn, and Mobile. Today, Alabama has a diverse economy and one of the most active college athletics scenes in the United States. Radiation Therapy With Concomitant and Adjuvant Temozolomide Versus Radiation Therapy With Adjuvant PCV Chemotherapy in Patients With Anaplastic Glioma or Low Grade Glioma
Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. It is not yet known whether giving radiation with concomitant and adjuvant temozolomide versus radiation with adjuvant PCV is more effective in treating anaplastic glioma or low grade glioma.
Study of Kidney Tumors in Younger Patients
This research trial studies kidney tumors in younger patients. Collecting and storing samples of tumor tissue, blood, and urine from patients with cancer to study in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and identify biomarkers related to cancer.
Collecting and Storing Tissue From Young Patients With Cancer
This laboratory study is collecting and storing tissue, blood, and bone marrow samples from young patients with cancer. Collecting and storing samples of tissue, blood, and bone marrow from patients with cancer to study in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that may occur in DNA and identify biomarkers related to cancer.
Biomarkers in Tumor Tissue Samples From Patients With Newly Diagnosed Neuroblastoma or Ganglioneuroblastoma
This research trial studies biomarkers in tumor tissue samples from patients with newly diagnosed neuroblastoma or ganglioneuroblastoma. Studying samples of tumor tissue from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors identify and learn more about biomarkers related to cancer.
Voice and Swallowing Outcomes Following Revision Anterior Cervical Spine Surgery
Evaluate voice and swallowing outcomes post operatively.
I-SPY TRIAL: Neoadjuvant and Personalized Adaptive Novel Agents to Treat Breast Cancer
The purpose of this study is to further advance the ability to practice personalized medicine by learning which new drug agents are most effective with which types of breast cancer tumors and by learning more about which early indicators of response (tumor analysis prior to surgery via magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images along with tissue and blood samples) are predictors of treatment success.
Maternal Newborn Health Registry
The primary purpose of this population-based study is to quantify and understand the trends in pregnancy outcomes in defined low-resource geographic areas over time, in order to provide population-based data on stillbirths, neonatal and maternal mortality.
Childhood Cancer Survivor Study
The Childhood Cancer Survivor Study (CCSS) will investigate the long-term effects of cancer and its associated therapies. A retrospective cohort study will be conducted through a multi-institutional collaboration, which will involve the identification and active follow-up of a cohort of approximately 50,000 survivors of cancer, diagnosed before 21 years of age, between 1970 and 1999 and 10,000 sibling controls. This project will study children and young adults exposed to specific therapeutic mod ...
Multi-Center African-American Inflammatory Bowel Disease Study (MAAIS)
The investigators are doing the research to discover genes that cause Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) specifically in the African American population. African Americans with or without Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis are eligible to join. If you agree to join the study, the investigators will ask for information about your health. The investigators will also ask you to give us a blood sample so that they may discover the genes that cause IBD. The blood sample may be collected at Johns Hop ...
Web Based Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Registry
The purpose of this study is to establish an international, web based clinical registry to collect baseline characteristics of patients undergoing orthopaedic, sports medicine, arthroscopy, and related surgery, and the subsequent outcomes and cost-effectiveness associated with the surgical procedures and nonoperative treatments.
Registry Study for Radiation Therapy Outcomes
The purpose of this research study is to collect and analyze information from patients being treated with various forms of radiation therapy.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Applications in Microarrays in Organ Transplantation
The current standard for biopsy-based diagnoses of dysfunction of kidney transplants is the Banff Classification which represents arbitrary international consensus. Recent data-driven approaches using molecular and conventional technologies indicate that mere consensus produces frequently incorrect diagnoses with potential harm to patients due to inappropriate treatment. To address this unmet need and improve diagnostics in the area of organ transplantation, the Alberta Transplant Applied Genomi ...
