Predictors of Post-COVID-19 Clinical and Cognitive Consequences
Recruiting
The CDC describes Post-acute sequelae of SARS-COV-2 infection (PASC) for the wide range of physical and mental health consequences experienced by some patients. These sequelae may be present four or more weeks after SARS-COV-2 infection, including patients who had initial mild or asymptomatic acute infection. However, there is complete absence of data whether chronic sleep changes due to COVID-19 infection may influence these physical and mental health consequences. While fatigue is one of the c... Dexmedetomidine Versus Propofol Sedation for Drug-Induced Sleep Endoscopy in Pediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Recruiting
This research study is designed to learn, first, whether two anesthetics have different effects on collapse seen within the upper airway during sleep endoscopy. A second purpose is to learn whether collapse at several levels of the upper airway is associated with obstructive sleep apnea that persists after adenotonsillectomy, the surgery that removes the tonsils and adenoids.

Functional Improvement in OSA and COPD with a Telehealth LifeStyle and Exercise Intervention
Recruiting
The investigators will conduct a Type I hybrid effectiveness-implementation study to test an integrated telehealth intervention among 400 overweight and obese patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). The investigators will include eligible participants receiving primary care at one of five Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers and their community-based outpatient clinics. RePOSA-Revealing the Efficacy of IHL-42X Use in Patients with OSA
Recruiting
The goal of this randomised, double-blind phase II/III clinical trial is to determine the safety and efficacy of IHL-42X in subjects with obstructive sleep apnoea who are intolerant, non-compliant, or naïve to positive airway pressure.
Phase II study will be a 4-week dose-finding study comparing two dose strengths of IHL-42X to placebo. The optimal dose strength will be selected based on comparing the safety and efficacy of the two IHL-42X dose strengths to placebo over a 4-week treatment perio... Read More

Endotype-Targeted Therapy to Rescue OSA Patients Struggling with CPAP Adherence (TOP-CPAP)
Recruiting
More than 10% of the US population have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Standard of care is therapy with CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) which virtually eliminates OSA. However, most patients use CPAP only for part of the night (4-5hours) and about 50% patients discontinue CPAP long-term. Alternative therapies are limited, thus many OSA patients remain at risk of OSA sequelae (e.g. sleepiness, memory issues, high blood pressure, etc.). Importantly, different patients get OSA for differ... Read More

Acetazolamide for Obstructive Sleep Apnea to Improve Heart Health
Recruiting
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a severe type of snoring causing people to choke in their sleep. It affects millions of Americans, causing many health problems. For example, patients with OSA often feel very sleepy and are at risk of falling asleep while driving. OSA also causes elevated blood pressure increasing the risk for heart attacks and strokes. Patients with OSA are often treated with a face-mask that helps them breath at night but can be difficult to tolerate. In fact, about half the p... Read More

OurSleepKit to Support CPAP Adherence
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if a couple-focused mobile health intervention will improve the use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), the primary treatment option for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Participants include newly diagnosed patients with OSA who are candidates for CPAP treatment and their partners. The couples will received supportive information and resources on their mobile devices before CPAP begins and continuing for 6 months into CPAP treatment. Their int... Read More

Evaluating the Genetics and Immunology of Periodic Fever, Aphthous Stomatitis, Pharyngitis, and Cervical Adenitis (PFAPA) Syndrome and Other Tonsil Disorders
Recruiting
Background:
Periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis, and cervical adenitis (PFAPA) is the most common periodic fever syndrome of childhood. Symptoms can include swelling of the glands in the throat, mouth ulcers, and tonsillitis. Removal of the tonsils can stop the periodic flareups. But researchers do not know how PFAPA develops. In this natural history study, researchers will collect specimens and data from people with PFAPA to see what they might have in common.
Objective:
To coll... Read More
